  1. Have done the maths on my pension statement and Scottish Widows appear to assume I will live to be 104.  What a total rip off.

Annuities are the biggest scam going. Poor returns and should you happen to die earlier they take the lot. Its legalised theft. Much better to drawdown yourself now.

  12. Blimey, that's some torrential rain in Banff/Buchan.  But no recent lightning....

  13. GFS predicting an ice day in Aviemore on Tuesday, with snow showers.  Hmmmm.

  14. Big dollops of sleet in Leith - even Doris can't give us snow this year.

    1. lassie23

      lassie23

Will it eventually turn to snow?

  15. Saw my first proper snow of the winter today.  Nearly the end of January.  Shocking for SE Scotland.

  16. Anti-cylonic gloom; I'd forgotten the phrase, but how very apt.

Its utterly awful. No sunshine since last Saturday here and a temperature between 3-7C the whole time. The only thing it has done is drizzle.

Probably one of the only ways being in the south is better during winter.

  17. Wonder why today's weather wasn't a named storm...

Surely with a storm surge risk down the east coast, there needs to be a name given soon.

    3. lassie23

      lassie23

This is why naming storms should be scrapped, too inconsistent.

      Beverley Lass

A storm in my name :)

Mind you it's not nice reading such as

      'Barbara could ruin Christmas'  heehee.

Seriously though, hope these coming storms don't cause real trouble for  folks.

Wow a bit early to name it surely, it's only tuesday, what a storm will do can change so much in that time. Hope it won't be to bad, although the air mass it's in is rather cold and we are rather warm compared so I guess cyclogenesis is expected.
