    Only positive from the model output is that our heating bills will be less and a certain forecaster who I detest looks to be completely wrong. I cannot see very cold weather and snow before xmas!

      I've seen a few wasps over the years in December one after the cold spell in December 81 surprisingly. They can hardy little devils and depending how kind the proceeding season has been then such sightings aren't all that unusual.

    This cold spell not looking as potent as 48 hours ago, it had Manchester struggling to get above freezing on Weds but now looks more like 6 or 7 with cold rain rather than sleet and snow.....bad cold spell??? more like a flash in the pan thankfully.

      I prefer cold rain in summer but alas I have to make do with warm rain. The outlook is pretty good for anyone looking for frosty sunny weather from later on in the week.
