  1. I would like to experience a storm of quite a large magnitude just so I can remember it and take it all in as an adult. The others have come at times when I was too young to fully appreciate nature or when I wasn't even born. (my sister was born on the night of the 87 storm, I wasn't born for another 4 years).
  2. Everyone talking about garden furniture reminds me of the time I stayed at my mothers aunts house in Florida during hurricane Wilma during october 2005, she got all of her outside furniture (plastic chairs table etc) and sunk them in her pool so they didn't blow everywhere, she said that she didn't want spiders etc coming into the house and the pool was easier lol.
  3. How i see it, regardless if you want it to happen or not makes no difference to the final outcome. I will take the consequences of what ever happens because its just something that cannot be controlled. It's not like people want it to happen because they want people to get hurt, we do not experience extreme weather on a regular basis if any at all unlike some other countries, so when something like this comes along it gets people excited and I personally do not see anything wrong with that.
  4. Yeah, I was in Ilfracombe at the time, we were staying in a holiday caravan in Hele Bay. The caravan was twisted off of its stands when we were hit by a very fast gust of wind. I remember trying to walk up a hill and being unable too because the wind was too strong. I remember a similar event in the late 90's when I was walking home from school I had to have both my sister and my mum hold on to me as the wind was soo strong it kept blowing me down.
  5. Just had that band pass here, intermitent lightning every 2/3 minutes. Not bad at all ill take it!
  6. I cant see anything as of yet! Hopefully I can break the curse tonight!
  7. Happy Birthday Steve and Tom. I hope you both have had great days! Currently 16.6c, the sky looks like its threaterning to rain! Felt wonderful sleeping in my own bed last night. Since halloween is coming up I thought I would practice my pumpkin carving skills with this: Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas, I had to draw it from scratch as I couldn't find a good enough stencil.
  8. Hornets are actually pretty docile unless they are by their nest, the only thing is they tend to come out in the evenings and are attracted to light sources like moths, so if a window or a door is open they will let themselves in.
  9. I go away for 2 days and my area gets storms, I missed out yet again!!! What a joke, I think I am storm cursed. We had some heavy rain this morning in Brixham though, with a faint rumble of thunder.Water has been out to get me today, we were on a beach this morning that is only accessible by a very large, uneven and steep set of stairs, when we started to asscend the stairs there was a small bit of watercoming down as we got just over halfway a huge amount of water started to pour down the stairs it was incredible. It made me realise the dangers of flash floods as it went from nothing to a large amount of water in almost no time.On the way back home in the car I was driving along the M4 when a car coming the opposite way hit a large puddle that engulfed the car, it was like driving through a waterfall. It was crazy.
  10. Good evening/morning everyone, sorry I haven't been on recently but I have been moving house.Looked spooky this morning when I woke up as it was dark and foggy, I am off to Brixham, Devon tomorrow for a holiday with my parents which will be nice as they are constantly on holiday without me .Also if anyone knows someone that could tutor A Level Mathematics (Cores 1 to 4) and Mechanics 1 and 2, could you please get them in contact with me. Thank you.
  11. Our fences are covered in them, there are atleast 5 or 6 large female spiders, they have a very weird pattern under their abodomens also. Just went to get a passport photo taken as I start my new job in a few weeks, feels cooler than the last couple of days but a hooded sweatshirt sufficed.
  12. Thanks Anvils for the link I really appreciate it! Some of these clouds remind me of the begining of spring when you get those short but heavy bursts of snow.
  13. Does anyone know where I can find that data from the met that has lightning activity by month?
  14. Nice too see people got storms last night but my area got nought...again! Not surprising really, getting used to it by now.Same thing happened everytime there was a chance of thunderstorms this year. It will happen one day.... probably (thats what I keep telling myself anyway)Was a warm one last night when I woke up at 6am it was 19c in central London!!! Whoa, got to be some sort of record for this time of year? Also I have a question if this South Easterly flow continues throughout winter what sort of weather can we expect?
  15. Triangle of doom? You need that to cover a little further NE as my area got nothing but a shower from the rain earlier.
  16. Ive just seen something that looks remarkably like a shelf cloud pass over Watford. Couldn't get my camera in time to take a picture though. Strange.
  17. Raining here now, wasn't expecting rain until later.Started misty this morning.
  18. Morning all, had a bit of rain over night, nothing prolonged or heavy though.Dull and misty right now. Lucky I get to sit in side all day stairing at a computer.
  19. For the southeast I reckon the first snow will fall over the chilterns in early December from a Northerly! Edit: the actual date I think will be the 6th/7th December.
  20. I am ready for the colder weather now, love summer but I equally love winter! Autumn is my favourite season with Halloween and Guy Fawkes night! Its starting to get colder the nights are drawing in, it especially feels awesome when we have such an amazing summer before it! I can't wait for the below 0c nights to kick in then I will be happy.
  21. Minneapolis is close enough for me. This would just be a perfect set up even though like you say doesnt quite exist, I cant deal with monotonous weather all year llike some people want, with the averages of each not varying much.
  22. That satellite trips me out, makes me go all cross eyed to start with! lol I have the 'posh' whiskey tumblers out tonight maybe thats why! 9.4 °C here, I hope to record my first 5 °C tonight way before I was expecting to.

  24. Well its offical, I had to turn the heating on... it was too cold in my house with only me in it for the past 3 days. Just me, the two dogs and the old cat. .If you don't hear from me again you know I have succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning haha.My parents are in Beligum at the moment, hopefully they bring back some chocolate, waffles and some of that trappist monk beer!
  25. You have only just got your first ones? We have been seeing them for months around here! I kind of like this weather, it may be cool and overcast but then I remember what a good summer weatherwise it has been and that makes this weather ok.
