  1. All this talk in the mod thread about a channel low later next week & yet all the south is looking at is rain, things must be getting really bad for cold/snow fans down here if even a channel low can't deliver for us! Yes we all know the track of that low is far from certain but I don't think any model run so far that has shown that system has any snow from the midlands south, not yet anyway. Cold rain really doesn't float my boat, if that's all I got to look forward to then I'd rather have the balmy temps of December back (although I wouldn't want the flooding issues to come back up north of course).
  2. Well well, the weather looks like making a fool of those who were foolish in writing off the rest of winter & saying they'd be no cold! Some people will never learn, it doesn't matter how bad the models may be looking, a turn around can happen at anytime.
  3. Been trying to use the up and coming cold snap (spell) to take my mind off real world problems but when I have a good friend that I will lose to cancer within 6 months and now my one and only brother has been diagnosed with cancer, will find out next week whether they can do anything for him, I just haven't got the heart to get excited about any cold & snow that may or may not be heading our way. I also think all the stupid petty bickering that I've witnessed going on in the mod thread over the past week or so is really pathetic as I can tell you right now that's more to worry about in life other than whether it will get cold and snowy.
  4. Certainly interesting model watching but going by what the models are suggesting at the moment, which of course will change, is that for any possible battleground scenario the further north and east you are in the uk the better placed you will be to possibly see some of the white stuff. Still a long way to go though and at least the models are painting an interesting picture, apart from the near term that is which certainly isn't a pretty site to see yet more heavy rain forecasted to hit the areas up north that can't take anymore.
  5. Bah humbug, looks like scrooge is in control of the weather for us in the south/south west going by that chart lol
  6. Can you lend me your crystal ball, I'd like to use it for the next lottery draw!! Calling the rest of December mild will probably turn out correct but writing off both Jan & feb is laughable at this point to say the least.
  7. When is this rubbish going to end, am sick and tired of grey laden skies & wind and rain. What I wouldn't give to have that northerly back, they might not give any wintry precipitation down here in the West country but they do bring plenty of blue skies & sunshine and cold frosty mornings, absolute heaven over the crud we currently have here!
  8. What a beautiful crisp morning, shame it'll be the only one this week!
  9. Had a wintry shower here about half 10 last night, had a mate call me to say look out the window as he could see sleet/wet flakes mixed in with the rain hiting his windscreen, can't say I even expected that down here at sea level just a few miles from the coast.
  10. Just had a very wintry shower pass through, could see sleet /wet snow hitting the windscreen. Poured it down for a few minutes which must have helped drag the air temp down during the shower.
  11. Pretty much a non event down south, was never going to be anything other I think, at least it will feel more seasonal though. I just hope this weekend isn't it for seasonal weather around these parts this upcoming winter.
  12. Stormy as hell out there right now, anything in the garden that ain't bolted down is frequently on the move!!
  13. Constant heavy showers here and it's currently absolutely belting it down with hail mixed in at times.
  14. What a great spell of weather we've had here for the past week or so, shame it's coming to end only to be replaced by rubbish wet and windy weather but here's hoping we see more high pressure settled spells as we move further into autumn.
  15. This is just the perfect autumn weather we're having at the moment & long may it continue.
  16. Nice echo heading my way, quite a surprise as thought these storms were meant to kick off much further east!
  17. What an atrocious day it's been, thought I'd time warped ahead to autumn, that's what it felt like out there today.
  18. After the miserable weather we've had the last few days I would gladly have the hot and humid weather back!
  19. Saw a lightning flash about 20 minutes ago looking south along Weston beach towards uphill, clouds looked menacing like the picture posted above, drove down that way and it was spitting with rain but haven't witnessed any lightning since.
  20. Very gusty winds here too, surprising considering how far away the storms are.
