  1. Well I've just come back from the obligatory drive up to Princetown after the school run and was pleasantly surprised. I was thinking a light dusting but I'm guessing they had about 3-4". Not much by some standards I know but better than nothing. It was snowing heavily when I left, with sleet, snow and hail down as far as Yelverton when i got home. showers on and off still. The roads around Princetown were quite tricky and I've got a 4x4. I wanted to pull over to take some pics for you all but white van man was driving like a lunatic behind me and in the snow it's tricky to find the pull in places. Still, hopefully that won't be the last this winter. Really hope you all get lucky (Snow wise of course!!!!)
  2. Well FK I'm gonna have to get back outta bed to go look see now Yep you're right, nice big flakes but turned sleety now.
  3. Yeay!!!! Snow shower on South Dartmoor. Didn't last long but the cars are white. Had as to get my 11year old daughter out of bed so we could go do a snow dance in the driveway in our PJ's. Luckily not many neighbours in our lane!!
  4. Well I finally saw some of the white stuff today. Not much and I missed it falling from the sky but hey I'm not gonna be picky. Drove up to Princetown on top of Dartmoor and they had a very light covering. Fingers crossed that something will come out of the showers heading our way. We can't all miss out again, surely?!!!!!
  5. Well you certainly weren't taking any chances with the snow NK . It looks amazing. I'm well jel. Always wanted to do the husky thing!!!!!
  6. Really beefy showers all afternoon, hail mixed in. The water is pouring down off the moors. Can't give any technical detail I'm afraid. I asked santa for a weather station for Christmas but he got me an iMac instead, so I'm really not complaining. Trouble is my birthday isn't until July.
  7. Wow, I've only ever experienced -25c when I was skiing once. It made the hairs in my nose freeze when I breathed in, Eye watering!!! So jealous, I bet it's fantastic.
  8. Woken up to a couple of loud bangs and a few flashes. Wasn't expecting that. Was hoping to sleep late this morning but the pull of the MOD thread is too much for me. I'm gonna have to go over and see how many toys are on the floor.
  9. Hmmm...... Models not looking so good, just a wobble? I hope so but at this point I'd take a few flakes and a couple of sharp frosts, it would still be an improvement on last year.
  10. Evening All Well, having dipped in and out of the MOD thread all day, I am totally confused!!!! I would be happy with "something colder and more seasonal", but would be delighted to see some snow after the snow drought of the last couple of years. I think I will keep knocker's thoughts in mind, so as not to be disappointed, but I can't help secretly hoping!!! I know it's only snow and there are far more important things going on in life but if it's your passion and it happens, it will stay in your memory bank forever and that's what becomes important in your own life as you get older. Enough of all that. I know snow is so difficult to forecast but I'm still confused as to how long the up and coming cold snap is likely to last. Any sensible thoughts?
  11. Good morning winter weather watchers. I'm really looking forward to the hopes and dreams of a cold snowy one this year. What a beautiful morning it is. Sun just showing through the clouds, strong breeze rustling through what's left of the leaves and a nice icy chill. Love it!!!!!!
  12. This is on Plymouth Breakwater in Plymouth Sound, taken on Sunday morning. You can just about see my husband's blue kayak.
  13. I agree Argyle, a stunning day. Took a hike up to the top of one of the Tors today. Wild NE wind up there, bitterly cold. Then back down to the local caff for bacon butties and hot chocolate. Snow and ice makes people do crazy things. A friend told me of a 4ft snowman driving round on the back of on open truck this week In snowless plymouth, complete with scarf and stick arms. Wonder if they've got a big freezer!!! We also have a large pond on the moor that the animals use as a watering hole. Today 3 guys on motorbikes were whizzing around on top of it on the ice. Seemed a bit crazy to me but what do I know?!!!! They didn't disappear under, that's pretty thick ice.
  14. Nice to see some of you snow starved boys and girls have finally got some snow overnight. What with that and reports from Cornwall yesterday, a good job done.
  15. Drive FK, drive!!! But with due diligence and within the speed limit of course.
  16. Brilliant NK!!! Yes that did sound a bit dodgy when I re-read it. Then of course I go on to talk about puffing and blowing....... Think I'll get my coat before I get banned.
  17. Glad you got that shower Beast. That took a lot of huffing and puffing to get it all the way over to you!!!
  18. Haa, Haa FK, day off today, so went back up to Princetown for my fix this morning!!! Really pleased you guys in Cornwall have finally had a few flakes. Did you have to Google to find out what those funny floating white things were?
  19. Large flakes now, think I'll report back in half an hour.
  20. And............. It's stopped!!! No worries about the traffic yet ;0)
