At last some flakes from that decent sized blob heading into Suffolk! Not as impressive as the radar makes it out to be but every flake counts ? -

You know you are finally admitting defeat and the chance of snow from these cold spells are pretty much gone when you close down the rainfall radars in your browser for the first time in two weeks!! :-( One covering of 1.5cm from the first spell and numerous sleet and snow showers giving a dusting at times in the second!! Bring on the Scandi High!! -

Just to add, gone very dark as well. Any chance that is a streamer setting up for a while? -

I have a theory for those in the know!! This annaprop, Vigra, "no show snow" thing-me-bob, if it is evapourating before it hits "planet earth", is this more likely to occur during daylight hours with the suns radiation? -

It's starting to look good again, seems to be building and I'm convinced that it's moving much more in a Westerly direction? Certainly anything over land now? Could work out well for everyone further south? Fingers crossed, just in time to finish my bottle of red!!- 833 replies

Beat me to it John!! Is the front still expected to pivot? If so that "Blob" in the north sea may well give us all a nice little bonus!!- 833 replies

Is it me or is the Easterly element of the wind now starting to show it's hand? Looks like the precip in the North Sea is starting to head due West??- 833 replies

Three Counties & East Anglia Regional Discussion - January 20th 2013>
nick82 replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
Snow is pretty heavy here in Felixstowe. Started off very fine a couple of hours ago and looked to be trying to turn to sleet :-( In the last hour it has really pepped up (still mostly fine flakes) and given 1cm of cover on cars which had been cleared and probably a bit more on the existing snow cover!- 767 replies

Can confirm about an inch in Felixstowe and coming down nicely. It looks as though the heaviest is about to push through, nice surprise!!

Been snowing for 1/2 hour!! Gonna take a drive to work (Woodbridge) and maybe venture towards Rendlesham/Aldeburgh as it would seem there has been plenty there. By that time on return back to Felixstowe hoping to see several more cm.

Update from Felixstowe: Had mod/heavy snow for 45 mins giving slight coverings but nothing on the roads!! Went to pick my daughter up from school 4 miles inland (Bucklesham) and only very light. Seems as if the blob is breaking up/heading North-West so will be time to look West shortly I imagine then back to the "East" Sunday onwards??

Afternoon all, Been staring at the radar for the whole morning watching the "BLOB" in the north sea. At last the skies to the east here in Felixstowe are getting darker and cloud is finally pushing in!! Will update on anything falling for those of you south of here. Do we think it will amount too much seeing that is very slow moving? By that I mean 2/3cm (don't want to be greedy!!) Nick

London & The South East Regional Discussion - Part 12

No snow in Felixstowe, :-( Been under the precepitation for at least an hour and a half, although as I said earlier it looked like it was getting much darker (clouds) out to the east before dusk!! -
East Anglia & Three Counties Regional Discussion €- Part 4

Right on the East Coast at Felixstowe and the radar has been showing precipitation (snow) over us for at least the last hour with nothing falling!! The clouds have increasingly got darker from the east though in this time so just maybe?? Just want to prick those clouds with a pin and let the heavens open!!! -

The 3 Counties And East Anglia Spring Weather Discussion
nick82 replied to Cookie's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Totally agree with you CS. I've only lived this way since sept last year and previous to that Waldringfield not too far from here but slightly more in land. Winters of my youth had the scenario of the further away from the coast the more snow you had (guess the warm sea effect and not significantly cold upper temp), backed up with the fact I went to Kesgrave school. One occasion in the mid/late nineties I remember a friend living in Felixstowe having more snow though!!! Dec snow event last year followed this trend with the further I drove along the A14, the more snow. Then as you say Jan this year (30cm) and now this weekend 25cm has turned things on its head!! I even considered the thought of having to move away from the coast after the Dec event last year lol!!! Nick
