  1. No point in moaning .. think all of us in the Purbecks have come to expect it over the years anyway!
  2. Many thanks for that! .. that'll do for me! .. Fascinating regularly checking into the model output! .. I'm getting there deciphering my ECM's amongst GEFS's and my FL, undercuts and of course the good ole Scandi high! A code of your own but love it!
  3. Haven't got a clue what they're all talking about, but still fascinating reading the sheer excitement from the amateur forecasters on the model output thread! By the sounds of it the latest charts are throwing up some seriously cold and prolonged wintry weather across all parts towards the end of next week! .. manic in there! .. worth a visit!
  4. Oh well .. better get the Poole, Bournemouth and Purbeck snow shield out then! Guess we'll just see our normal predictable rain as always!
  5. Poole Harbour snow shield now activated and doing what it does best .. turning anything that falls within 5 miles of it's entire perimeter to rain!
  6. Wow! If this area below the Purbecks, Dorset makes landfall here then maybe red warning maybe extended further east?
  7. Wareham golf course! Our playground where all the kids went during the great snow event of 1978! Everyone from Northmoor congregated there! Be good to see a snow event like that again! ?
  8. Same Here! Power cut as well now! No way I'll sleep now .. weather radar chart looking to exciting!
  9. Great! Power cut in the village has just occurred and snow event not here yet! All adding to the excitement!. Weather radar showing heavy precipitation just leaving France heading over channel towards us - Corfe Castle, Dorset!
  10. many thanks,so much to learn and take in.keep going to the model output discussion some of which I understand and some I most definately don't! lol, fascinating though!
  11. has this all gone horribly wrong? or are there any weather tekkies out there that can give us any clues as to where this precipitation is coming from.hunting the radar even along the french coast and not seeing much yet.
  12. Every time theirs talk of snow this forum is there to work it's magic and draws you in!. This is what makes netweather great, so addictive, Great fun. All eyes on the radar and GFS for the next 24 hrs!
  13. Nowhere near an expert like most on this forum and I am well aware that many charts, influences and sudden changes have to be taken into account, but surely by the look of the latest GFS it will take more than the usual Poole Harbour snow shield to keep that lot out this time!. It shows precipitation from 9pm this eve continuing well into tomorrow!
  14. And from me AWD! I often pop into the mod disc to try & learn and pick bits up so to see your charts and write ups in plain english is real useful, thx!
  15. Latest GFS just rolling out .... Now that's just a tease for us folk around Poole Harbour! (Sunday morning)
  16. Small shower nearly on us but still thawing here, few showers about around Devon which in theory should head this way but presumably will break up as they make there way East ...
  17. currently watching that little slow moving shower heading East currently over Weymouth... c'mon keep going not far from Corfe Castle now but will it be rain, sleet or snow!
  18. Up against it even before the usual Poole Harbour snow shield has been deployed!. Going to be a nowcasting Friday I think!
  19. Just starting to arrive at Corfe Castle and falling as ........................................ a few wispy flakes of snow at the mo, which should give encouragement to anyone right on the South coast to the East of us!
  20. Well I'm darned, just when you think it's all over Met-Office post up an advisory for upto 10cm snow next Wed in alot of areas, what's that all about. Is it time for round 2?
  21. Great to see regional forum still up and running.Perhaps they know something we don't,are my eyes deceiving me or has the Met-office suddenly sprung up an advisory for next Wednesday for our areas of Possible snow 10cm . Is the mighty cold spell coming back for round 2?
  22. Nice reading and sharing all the excitement with you all and the lack of sleep!,As per normal for us Dorset Folk the masses of snow never came but hey we'll bounce back (probably with a scorcher of a summer bringing the hoards of holidaymakers onto our SUN SOAKED BEACHES !).Great to chat to a few fellow dorset peeps as well and look forward to hopefully typing away on here again before the spring arrives. Dorset Apple Cake or Devon Scrumpy? lol
  23. Very good point,I am new to all of this and due to the recent snow have become interested in GFS model output etc.Last week whilst trying to understand the GFS model outputs I asked a very sensible question as to reading the GFS on this site and just wanted reassurance that I was on the right lines.Unfortunately didn't get one reply back just countless comments such as "can't see where this next cold spell is coming from" or "possible re-load from 24th Jan" etc.I would imagine in extreme weather condition times as of recent, forums like this pull in huge amounts of people that then like myself become interested in other aspects of the weather so it would just be nice to involve all people, even 'newbies' that need a little help with model readings etc on this forum after all it is titled "General" model output discussion. Otherwise now regularly enjoying this forum and the many excellent posts that have been written.
