would be really good if we could have on here some realistic forecasting for the next 4 or 5 days rather than the people on the main thread looking for breakdowns, trends and past winters.

its been a cool winter and lots of frosts in certain areas. presume people prefer the wind and rain so they can say which it was cold and settled?

not in the Wales forum really. 'will it snow in my backyard' is not helpful imho

my main gripe is the lack of talk about the next few days whatever the weather its always the longer term mostly unreliable timeframe is concentrated on. Would be great to have more current forecasting within say the next few days and you don't get that on the regional forums as its more just uneducated like myself. be great to have a model thread for just a five day period then a long term model forum for post five days.

i'm constantly amazed that people look at a computer model 10 days in advance and say we've been led up the garden path. its not cast iron certainty and its like predicting all ten premiership games, impossible for it to happen. Yet people hold their lives to the models which rarely verify that far out. Astonishes me.

i know it hasn't been the most illuminating winter but here in Wales we've had plenty of frosty cold nights and days and even the lake in Cardiff froze over in November which in itself is rare in this part of the world. from the posts i've seen you'd think it had been windy wet and mild all winter, it certainly hasn't here.

it must be the driest summer here in Cardiff for a long while. There are cracks in the grass and its quite burnt yet still people are saying its not been a good summer. this is totaly imby i appreciate that but even work colleagues are sayiing its been okay when i guess it will be the driest summer for quite a few years.

Not rained in Cardiff for 12 days. Been mostly warm for the last 7 days as well. Think its about 1 days rain in 3 weeks. Ground is rock solid now. All change in the next few days but its been a great start to summer here. Unfortunately as happened last year work have ordered fans because its been too hot in the office. They did it last year and didn't have one hot day after that. Hope its not the same this year. edit. there may have been the odd 5 minute shower and i mean the odd one but nothing of any note whatsoever.

we've had a lovely start to the summer down here. one day of rain in the last two weeks. warm temperatures and warm nights. really nice to be fair.

Looks like only snow on the very top of Pen Y Fan which is a bit surprising

that happened 5 years ago. Didn't get above 2.9 in central cardiff today. thats below average.

anyone that says the weather they are getting is pathetic is a mystery to me. You can't control the weather. You never will be able to control the weather. You can go to other places that have better/worse weather. That is all you can do. Using words like pathetic is pathetic and people should concentrate on things they can effect like what your having for tea.

i've never quite got why people love storms unless its to clear a particularly long hot spell. in the summer why do people crave storms which limit any outdoor activity?

i'm the one with no knowledge and would appreciate a section where those that know more about these things can tell us what is likely to happen in the more reliable timeframe, ie, next 2 or 3 days.

yeah my main moan is there is nowhere on this site to tell us with no knowledge what is going to happen in the next few days. On the model discussion its always whats going to happen next week. Its rather frustrating.

they die because they are old and are succeptable to any deviant in temperature. old people die when its 12 degrees but doesn't get reported. we have the least extreme weather in the world.

isn't it weird that people say we are a 'pathetic' island just because the weatehr isn't the same as a totally different part of the world that has always more extreme weather than us?
