I wonder whether we might just get cold and dry though (okay this is a wintry scenario, but perhaps not the one that most here would prefer) for the most part, from mid next week, with the serious cold reserved for eastern Europe, in the 10/11 day outlook? I'd say it was a pretty high chance. Who then knows how the situation would develop afterwards?
It'll be an interesting period for model watching for sure, to see how the situation develops (particularly with the location of the high pressure) and undoubtedly there will be lots of highs and lows in the Model Discussion Thread!
I'll take cold and dry over mild and wet - I'm pretty pleased with the amount of snow I've had this winter so if that's it so be it, we might not have come close to the accumulations of 2010 but I've certainly seen more hours of falling snow which has been beautiful to watch. I've had hoar frosts, powder snow and some decent thick stuff which has given me plenty of different photo opportunities.
I'd love to think we could have one more bite of the cherry and winter go out with a bang but if we're only going to get transient snow and it's a slushy mess I'll be looking for signs of spring and some decent walking weather with dry ground conditions !

Morning all,
Rather chilly here at -0.5 °C and the last few patches of snow are still hanging around so hopefully a slowish thaw will have helped prevent flooding.

Now how on earth do I get rid of that underlining...........go away! Sorry having a senior moment.
Done it for you

Hi all
Just a question
How can I Quote a post from a previous thread
Thanks
If the thread is locked you won't be able to directly quote the post but you can copy and paste the text and enclose it in quote brackets - just make sure you say who said it and when or I think you can link back to the previous thread by copying the link address in the top right hand corner which you should see if you right click the post number #
(well I can do this so I assume you all can too and it's not a moderation thing ?)
Hope this helps

Can you pop your location in your profile please - it would be handy if you do have any snow fall to report if we know where you are.
(You can do this by clicking on your profile (top right hand corner), then clicking "edit profile". Add your location and save)
- thanks

I wonder if we will ever see a day where we get heavy, non marginal snowfall, widespread across the midlands, leading to 20cm+ accumalations, with dry ground, and no rain prior too or after the event.
I know some across the midlands have seen it but certainly not here.
Who knows....but you can have a new thread in a few minutes....maybe it will be lucky for you !

A quiet day weather wise and I'm off to explore the Industrial Estates at the northern end of our region - so you'll have none of my old rubbish to spoil things either!!!
Morning all and happy Pancake day
Hope you've got your thermals on then Coast it's much colder up here than on the sunny south coast....and there is still a bit of the white stuff hanging around for you to see but yesterday would have been much better !
Have a good day everyone

Back on topic, wifelet tells me it snowed here in north bucks for much of the morning and a good part of the afternoon, doesnt appear to have added much depth though
There was plenty of depth up on the top of Dunstable Downs this morning....my photos are on the previous thread...

Btw I lied about the Rain in Leigh On Sea and we are having some interesting weather - Look Below
If you watch 1 timelapse watch this - Simply amazing, every 1 second of the timelapse is 30 minutes of the snowstorm
I had no idea you were living in a place between Cambridge and Worcester (MA)
Nice time lapse though

Okay here we go....
This is the drive to Dunstable Downs, and the view from the top..
...and back down the other side....
Bison Hill and back through Dunstable, gritters out....
.... and home through the Deer Park of course....
The roads were not too bad, one of the main problems was branches down from trees due to the weight of the snow !
-
Been up to dunstable for some fun & got stuck right up on the top- had to get pulled out the car park by a range rover-
It's was bad at the top wasn't it, I reckon the drifts were nearly two feet in places....
...there were a few people getting stuck when I was up there, wonder if one of them was you !
Had a bit of a thaw here (it seems to have gone from the bottom upwards if that makes sense)but just took a measurement on the garden table and I've still got a good 6cm.....
Just putting my photos on from this mornings drive/walks, I love it when it snows on my day off
-
just going sledging up to dunstable downs
S
See you up there...I was just about to be off and out, I'm heading that way myself !
-
I'm quite surprised it's snowing heavily again here at the moment, I thought it was all going to fizzle out by 9am !
I've given up on getting to my Tums & Bums class now and plan B is under-way to get out with my camera as soon as it eases off

I have no idea why but a gritting lorry has just gone up the main part of the road here and he was laying down quite a heavy amount of salt, am I missing something ?
