Mix of rain and sleet with occasional snowflakes falling in C.London (Hyde Park)
-
Is it time to mention the Thames Streamer yet? lol
just thought i'd join in the ramping

"Oh no I'm not getting any snow I'm going to rage about it on the Internet!"
-
Snowing moderate to light here, no doubt in celebration of the new thread
-
Oh is this how modern winters are meant to feel?
A thousand snowed-in up near Chesterfield
It's freezing cold outside but it it looks so nice
And it's okay because we're all sorted out for snow and ice
Move over Jarvis!
-
It was only 2cm when I left for work at 8 this morning Is it getting heavier?
I'm about 2 mi north so in a hillier part, not sure about the town itself. I suspect it will be getting more snow down there though!
-
Uxbridge area - went to bed a bit disappointed and equally so with a quick peek out the curtains at 5am, but woke up to moderate snow from this North Sea stuff and still falling .. 3-4" or so
-
Bit of a damp squib so far, Uxbridge near Heathrow - about 5cm fallen but now getting warmer/wetter and maybe some sleet. I guess it is early yet.
-
Noticed that the dew points locally are starting to rise to near the air temperature, and have been since 7pm. What does that signify?
-
Lots of sparkly ice on top of the snow! Looks amazing.
-
30mm here so far.
-
That forecast on the BBC indicated this area would get snow for the next 20 hours !
-
Seriously folks, all this talk of when, where and how much will I get, cannot be resolved or even guessed at even at this short range. Situations, models and forecasts are changing minute by minute. You're all going to have to just hang on and see what it brings later.
Exactly, get yourselves a Netweather radar subscription then spend the next 9 hours guessing will it, won't it.. it's far more fun

Crikey!!!!! Latest 12z ppn
Now that would be a show-stopper.
What are the time units on those charts (and indeed on the netweather main forecast pages), is it per hr ?

Helped push quite a few cars up hills last night and so many had no idea what to do. People seem to think flooring it is the best approach!
When you are in a powerful car like a 535d then all this does is move the back of the car straight toward the kerb and the abandoned cars ...
I told him to leave it in second and turn off his traction control .. he looked at me blankly. "How do I do that?"
Some local people were out with shovels clearing ice off the road for 3-4 hours.. families, kids etc - well done to all of them. I bet quite a lot of people avoided nights in their car as a result.
-
After just one week of it, some seem to have lost the stomach for it!
I agree, I'm quite enjoying it.
I can walk to work though!

is it snowing the chilterns area anyone, just wondering because i saw a forecast with snow around there also here in thames valley its on the edge at 0.5C and i was thinking out of town on hills to the north Snow?? if so might try to go there tommorow, if its worth it. its always on the edge of snow here but it never seems to happen. [barring last winters 10 inchess!! ]
Certainly High Wycombe, Amersham, Chesham etc are all reporting snow. I think some sledging at Stokenchurch is on the cards

Getting a real orange gow in the sky now, still snowing heavily and settling on the gritted slush
-
Skies getting darker here and rain/sleet is now more snow than sleet... fingers crossed!
-
So will the sleety rain turn to snow as temperatures drop when it gets darker....
-
-
Mostly rain here N of Uxbridge.. had hoped temps would stay below zero, but obviously not the case. :o
-
Those of you getting snow now, did your temps go up to around 0, then snow fell and settled? Did the temp drop again?
Snowing heavily now N of Uxbridge, but temps still around the 0 mark. Massive flakes!
-
Why do the met office / NW forecasts predict temperatures going back up above freezing between 2200-0200 tonight? For Herts/Bucks areas?
