A5 from Shrewsbury to Telford completely shut Eastbound
- 1

In untouched areas, there must be 10 inches to 1 foot in Shrewsbury. From the naked eye that is

I think the heat has got to some people!!
It's been lovely and warm here since Thursday 4th July so 10 days, not quite 3 weeks. Also a high of 28.5 here and what, 32 in the UK. Don't get me wrong, it's stunning weather and looks like continuing, but not quite Moscow 2010 standard
-
I've recorded 26.2 here, I don't mind cooler days like this one!!
-
24.5 in Shrewsbury currently and feeling wonderful
Again less cloud than touted, as has been the way all July, a marvellous first half of the month
-
I've heard a few rumbles of thunder, but very sunny and hot all day with slightly more cloud in the afternoon Think it's 24 ish degrees and above for 10 consecutive days now, and another 10 looks nailed on. We've waited a long time for this, enjoy it peopleGood to see things coming good in the East Midlands. Also things starting to happen in mid-Wales...does this mean something for the very north-west midlands a bit later maybe? If I were in the Shrewsbury area...it may be worth keeping an ear out.
Here in north shrews I heard thunder but no rainOur town has it's own micro climate, I remember winter, 2 inches of snow at one end, none the other! No thunder here yet, still sunny in town as that mass of cloud just seems to be skirting the west edge of Shrewsbury
-
I hit 28.4 in shrewsbury today making it the hottest day I can remember here in years. Accuracy may be minutely questionable!
-
Edit - light snow falling in Shrews
-
Hit Wellington and it's a winter wonderland, take care on the roads around Telford, easily passable but by no means a good gritting job done
Anyway, get back to Shrews and it's hammering down with snow again! Now stopped but Met O have upgraded to heavy snow from 3 o'clock!! Mad!
-
Got a bone to pick with you Telford folk!
You've got double us again haha! Conditions deteriorate along the M54 as normal and it's a winter wonderland! Yet again your council have left main roads a state, not a patch on Shrewsbury who ensure roads are always safe
-
Snow starting again, light but blowing sideways again
Ram arable spell, even if we've not been near as severe as others, even this amount in late March is awesome
-
Been fresh snow overnight in Shrewsbury
The clear roads and paths are now white over again, I cleared the car and now there's another 2-4cm covering. Reckon I'd be able to find a sheltered spot now with 8-10cm if I'm lucky! Just a shame about the thaw Friday and Saturday. Road looks dodgy, think it's froze overnight colder than Friday night

Heaviest snow of the day in Shrews
Struggling to settle sadly
-
Last 1ft was probably 1963, but would have taken weeks to build up. The last 40cm seriously could be Victorian times, or even before!
Poor us!
In all seriousness, Jan 18-20, spells throughout Feb and March have meant this is one if the snowiest (certainly not coldest) winters of my lifetime.
I've come to accept that 5-10cm is equivalent of 15-20 somewhere higher, makes it easier!
-
Snowing a bit harder now, but will struggle to accumulate in the daytime. This event has been like a bad 90s/00s throwback, I thought we'd banished these everywhere-but-Shrewsbury events since 2010.
It's not quite everywhere but us, we've had a bit but 40cm within 20 miles away is painful!!!
I'm north shrews and your comment yesterday was correct, South Shrews retained snow cover all day yesterday, north was wet wet wet and green!
The other month it was the other way round!!
And regards to the last 1ft snow in Shrewsbury, god knows! I'm only 19, I regard 6 inches as a rare and major event here. Double that!? Never!
-
Town game v Oldham is apparently off, disappointing but hardly surprising
-
2-4 centimetres in Shrewsbury
You guys 20 miles up the road count yourselves very lucky! Enjoy it
-
So near yet so far to the big stuff
2-4cm in March is very respectable but it could've and has been elsewhere, so much more
-
Love how Oswestry has 40cm and we have about 4!!!!
Never mind, it's still coming down, slowly slowly
-
Been snowing in Shrews for hours now
Stuck for the last hour
Not going out to measure depths, it's a little crazy out there! I'd say maybe 1-2cm on grass
-
Sticking in Shrewsbury, heaviest snow of the day, nothing remarkable yet but it's a start
Everywhere just about white over for the first time today
-
Paths now starting to whiten
God this is a slow process! Pathetic really! Wind is very impressive
-
The cars and grass are trying to whiten, trying!
Road, paths, still sodden and clear
-
hmm, not even a flake here last saturday! today now is a bit like Jan 18th here, driving lightish snow, -0.1C so sticking better, must be around 5cms on grass
We were forecast constant snow Jan 18/19th
Turned out Jan 20th was best!
This time we've been forecast snow March 22/23
Tonight/tomorrow needs to perform to save this from being the biggest flop and missed chance in years
