    At least 6" of snow here and still going - although very lightly. An amazing surprise. Internet down for a couple of hours and SKY not working. Other first world problems include damage to my box hedges and holm oaks.

    Incredible stuff. My son has just had to abandon his car a mile or so from home. All roads blocked around the Odiham/North Warnborough (North-east Hampshire) area.

    Huge fluffy snowflakes have been coming down moderately/heavily for the last hour just ENE of Basingstoke. Have had 3-4" already with no sign of a let up. Jack-knifed lorries and roads blocked all around. Keep it coming.

    Heavy snow now. Big flakes. I was joking earlier when I said that people will get stuck on the roads around here but it's not a joke now. If this keeps going then there will be plenty of roads closed.

    BBC somewhat underplaying this event in north Hampshire. Cars getting stuck on the Odiham to Alton road, my wife being one of them. She's only a couple of miles from home but she might have to spend the night in the car. However, it's not all bad news. My local is literally only 100 yards away so if she is stuck I can get my supper there.

    Looks like it has a chance of turning from sleet to snow for you later this afternoon as temperatures drop. The precipitation is definitely buildin south-east from where I am. Fingers crossed.

    Light to moderate snow for the last half an hour in north-east Hampshire. Footprints being filled in and trees getting covered again. This is turning into a great spell in this part of the world.

    Just took the dog for a walk in the hills around north Hampshire having driven around the area beforehand. 3-4" of snow everywhere with very little melt and a temperature of 1C. I had no idea how bad the conditions were until I got home and watched the BBC news. The presenters, all of whom were obviously at work, were advising people in the area not to venture out because of the horrendous conditions. Presumably their jobs are much more important than ours.

    Got about 3-4" here in north-east Hampshire - so pretty pleased. Right at the top of the estimates for the area south of London. Dog is going mad in the garden and have had to knock off the accumulations from some bent over bushes.

    Just started snowing in north-east Hampshire. Come on keep going. Radar looks a bit weak and patchy but we have many hours of potential still to come.

    In the far west of our region(north-east Hampshire) we've just had a graupel or hail shower. Enough for a very light covering or is it just a dusting?

    What does the August figure need to be in order for 2018 to beat 1976 as the warmest summer (June to August) ever?

    All of the above is true but I still think that March 2018 is a better 'winter' month than March 2018 whatever happens between now and the 31st. Of course this is dependent on what area of the country you live in. In central southern England we have had several days with non-marginal snow, relatively long-lasting snow cover and deep drifts.

    Yes, it was April 2008. Had a good 4-5 inches down here. That was the year that it also snowed down south in October.

    That's my main criticism as well. You can't see where the snow and cloud start and end.

    Just been for a walk with the dog. No melt in the garden or the surrounding fields - still got a level 4 inches. Still below freezing and feeling bitterly cold in the wind.

    It's the cold spell that just keeps giving. It's not giving to me right now but I'm pleased that someone in our region is getting a bit more. Keep us posted.

    More than 5 hours of mostly light snow giving an additional 3cm. Keep on thinking it will stop but some back building occurring. Will surely stop very soon. What a day!

    Been an additional 2.5cm since 6.30 and it still coming down very lightly. Second ice day in a row with a maximum of -0.5 today. Fell to -2.5 at 8pm but has risen slightly since then. A total of about 12cm in this cold spell so far. March 2013 was colder but whatever happens between now and the end of the month, March 2018 will go down as the best ever for me. Much more snow.

    I'm usually a great supporter of the professionals and the very difficult job they do, however on this occasion they are getting it badly wrong. While forecasting in these situations is very difficult, reporting what is actually happening is not. Surely they should have one of their team standing outside and looking/feeling at what is falling out of the sky and somebody else looking at the radar. Perhaps sometimes they put too much emphasis on computer models.
