  1. The band is getting larger enough to cover EA and the SE, been tracking the snow from Germany joining the Holland snow now and swinging into this band, some thunder snow over Germany aswell. Great watching this even if I dont get any snow out of it, thats what its all about not just the snow lovers at the window. Im sad I know lol

Would be great if that blob comes across. Big downgrade from BBC on radio just now. Not much to come for our area, including SE, but heavy snow predicted for Pennines/ North Yorkshire. Also a thaw setting in over Eastern Britain. :nea:

  2. I will repost my post from earlier:

The band from the Low countries is now taking a more Easterly track. You may think it doesnt look big but it is much bigger than the 2 bands that affected EA on the 17th of December. Yes it has somewhat weakened, but as it comes over the North Sea convection because of a strengthing Easterly wind will pep it up and continue to feed more moisture into the system as it reaches EA later tonight. It is likely to be light but persistant, and even light snow over a period of time can bring good falls....

Spot on my friend. That is exactly what is happening now. Thank you. :good:

  3. We've done quite well in N Norfolk with a good 2-3 inches overnight blown about into more impressive 6 - 8". At the moment we seem to be in a snow shield - can't quite see where the next band of precipitation is coming from. More concerning though is the rise in temps that will accompany any precipitation, especially tomorrow. GFS has dewpoints forecast to be widely at 1C across the region tomorrow which is likely to make things much more marginal. Obviously better the further inland you go, ie towards East Mids. Would be good to get some more snow though but I'm less optimistic at the moment.

That is worrying. Maybe we will be ok. Time will tell I guess.
