  1. HI TM,

Thanks for the information, the area I was working was maybe 100metres lower and surrounded by trees and about 4km from my site as the crow flies,so plenty of differances,Ive got a maximum gust rfeading today of 28.2mph which seems about right. The station gives out readings at 48 second intervals its my first serious weather station although it wont be as proffesional as some of you guys are used to ,but it will do me as a first step until I get a more serious one hopefully next year.

    Regards Les.

  2. It was a pleasent day with sunny intervals but clouding over in the late afternoon with rain in the evening.Temp Max 8.8C,Min 1.2C,Wind Max 9.2mph,Rainfall 8.7mm,Pressure Max 995mbs,Min 983mbs.

    Current conditions;(midnight);Rain,Temp 3.9C,Rainfall in the last hour 2.4mm,Wind 6.0mph,Pressure 983mbs falling quickly.

  3. HI Weatherteers,

Ive had my first ever weather station for almost two weeks now and Im very pleased with it,however today I have a recorded wind gust reading of 25.1mph.Im sure it was not that windy today as I was only working a couple of miles down the road and was raking leaves so I think I would of noticed a wind of that stength.Could it be a rogue reading ,if so how often can they occur. The station was only £60 but seems good enough quality.

    Regards Les.

  4. HI There,

Its strange sometimes when science and the paranormal meet.Quite often when Ball Lightning is obseved it seems to act as if its alive or controlled by some intelligence, there are accounts of BL entering houses wandering around the sittingroom then preceeding to float the stairs and exit by a bedroom window or dissapear up the chimney.laugh.gif Will O The Wisp or Jack O Lantern has been know to taunt witnesses by keeping its distance when followed, then approach when they try to wander away. This mischievous almost poltergeist behavour can sometimes extent to more comman weather phenonomen like when lightning knocked out the BBC Weather Centres computer and back in the 70's when the Edinburgh University Weather Department was struck with a bolt of lightning melting a neat hole through a window pane. Not to mention fish and frog falls, and the time a giant hailstone fell in the USA with a Carp inside!Someone up there has a sense of humour!

    Regards Les.

  5. HI Snowkissed,

Ive managed to set up my gallery and download my orb images onto it.In the full size image the orb is just above and to the left of the dogs head. The images are not as clear as Id like due to resizing. If you still want the prints that should be clearer let me know.

    Regards Les.

    PS,

Incidently the image was taken on the 23rd January 2006,near the old gunpowder mill Roslin Glen. The camera was a 4mp CONCORD 4340z compact.Weather was dull but no flash.

  6. HI There,

It was interesting from mid afternoon with frontal cloud slowly advancing from the west, textbook stuff with even the preceding feathery Cirrus on veiw and with a Sundog as well.dirol.gif Temperatures took a early dip to be below freezing around 5pm its now cloudy and up to 0.8C.The wind has risen slightly but still only 2-3mph which is no bad thing as the calm conditions over the past two days has meant my woodburning stove has not been drawing worth a...mad.gif

    Regards Les.

  7. HI All,

I wish I could download my orb images but I cant ,I think because Im on dialup. The orb I captured is not unlike the second set by Snowkissed but the image was taken in daylight against a gravel shoreline of a river, although it was a rather dull January day at the bottom of a river valley no flash was used.I remember seeing video footage on television of several orbs moving about a sitting room they dident strike me as defocused insects, dust or reflections. There are some really bad 'orb' images out there some I saw on the internet some time ago were obviously out of focus snowflakes in a dark garden.A lot of so called UFO footage that finds itself on the TV sometimes are so obviously defocused planets or aircraft landing lights its actually a insult to the intelligence and quite amazing how they can fool anyone.

    Regards Les.

  8. HI All,

A sunny mainly calm day with air frost night and morning.Evening clear and calm.Temps Max 5.7C,Min -1.4C.Rainfall 0.3mm,Wind Max 5.4mph,Pressure Max 1019mbs,Min 997mbs.

    Current conditions;Temp -0.8C,RH 88%,Wind None,Cloudcover None,pressure 1019mbs rising slowly.

    Regards Les.

  9. HI Snowkissed,

Roslin Glen the area that my orb image was captured is supposed to be a layline area, the whole place is rather creepy, a wooded valley overlooked by the imposing Roslin Chapel and the castle its quite a mystical place associated with the Knights Templer and Holy Grail. The castle is haunted as is the nearby site of the Battle Of Roslin.Where the image was taken is also very close to the ruins of a old gunpowder factory which provided explosives for the two world wars.During WWI a spark from a train on a nearby railway line caused part of the factory to blow up claiming several lives.

    Regards Les.

  10. HI Snowkissed,

oops.gif Sorry your right Laylines and fault lines are differant its just that I couldent comment on faultlines possibly causing ghosts because Ive never heard of a supposed link before! However faultlines are thought to cause aerial lights and glows in the atmosphere called Earthlights which can sometimes precede earth tremours which I believe happened in Wales a couple of times in the mid 70's.Glowing Earthlights are also associated with the Peak district of England.

    Regards Les.

  11. HI Pottyprof,

It was a coincedence that I mentioned the Stocksbridge case I dident notice your profile saying your from there. Its good to speak with someone that knows the area.If you know any snippits about the case thats not been mentioned in books or the internet so far.....doh.gif

    Regards Les.

  12. HI Pottyprof,

Yes, there is a supposed links between outdoor ghosts and laylines, theory is that the Stocksbridge bypass near Sheffield built in the 1980's disturbed a layline which released a number of phantoms witnessed by a number of people including night watchman and police constables. In fact one of the ghosts(a monk)actually attacked the police patrol car! Ghosts in most cases dont act like mere images they seem to be aware of the witnesses even in rare cases comunicating or trying to comunicate with the onlooker.

    Regards Les.

  13. HI Pottyprof,

Im familiar with the theory, but it dosent explain ghosts like phantom hitchickers who actually get into peoples cars and in one case in South Africa onto someones moterbike and travel some distance before suddenly disappearing. There are also hundreds of cases of phantom stone throwers ect. There are too many differant types of ghosts for the theory to hold water in many many cases.

    Regards Les.
