  1. Hi thanks yes still finding my way this site :smilz38: . The storm crept in from a southerly direction {luckily as we can see much further in this direction}. I happened to look out of the window and thought wow thats looks awesome so went upstairs for a better look and yes it deffo looked 'stormy' then flash yes a strom at last! Watching the rain coming in over Newbury was amazing,there was a clear line between the rain and not where it was raining. Yep roll on 2011 atorm season - see you in the no storm club section
  2. Clear start then had a light snow shower - 9-15 am to 10 am,light covering of snow,with any surface water frozen. Current temp = minus 4.2 Pressure = 983.6 pha dropping slowly. Humidity = 81% Current windspeed = 0.0 Rainfall = 0.0{?}
  3. Hi just found this thread so i thought i'd add a few from the only storm to hit Newbury this year ,it struck at Tea time and lasted about thirty minutes,i only see cloud to cloud lightning? The rain was very intense and also had some hail.
  4. Temp high + 5.1c Temp Low - 2.9c Highest wind gust - 3.1 mph Clear sunny day. Location Newbury Berks.
  5. Current temp -1.2c Lowest temp - 4.2c current wind 0.0 pressure 992.4 {not sure if this is acurate as its a new station} Rainfall 0.0 Sunny cloudless day. No snow here as yet {Newbury Berks}
  6. Hi should be a good thread this . I also love that one - too cold to snow today!
  7. Hi about 5-30 this evening just after tea had a look over Newbury was greeted by a very heavy rain shower heading our way and to my surprise it turned out to be a proper thunderstorm! It hit about ten minutes later and last nearly thirty minutes,with plenty of cloud to cloud lightning and some very loud thunder! There was two spells of very heavy rain.The storm moved over in a north westerly direction and it seemd like there was a line of storms. After the storm had passed the sky looked awesome as the sun was setting!
  8. Hi i guess it was only near shave so i guess i am still a member . Today been real exciting-Tea time i was loading the van for tomorrow when i heard a rumble of thunder and WOW that sky looks good - so the van door gets slammed shut races in upstairs to watch the impeding storm - but alas its not too be:unknw: looked so good too:pardon: Anway i'll be your Tea boy:lol: mind you i prefer coffee:doh:
  9. Hi well had a THUNDERSTORM today:yahoo: ok it only lasted fifteen minutes but hey whos complaining:D . See two flashes of lightning,but heard loads of thunder {which is surprising since i am half deaf:blush: }Also had quite alot of hailstones so yeah exciting stuff only down side is - does this mean i have to leave the 'No Storm Club'?
  10. Hi just a couple of quick stories:D . Many years ago when i was fishing a local lake. I was sat there on an otherwise uneventfull day when it suddenly got dark and very threatening looking but being young carried on regardless when suddenly an almighty flash which blinded you and the loudest clap of thunder i have ever heard{the lightening and thunder were simultanious}i jumped out of my skin and thought blimey perhaps we had better pack up and go home;) ? Second story - I was watching a storm aproaching Newbury from the south,it was just after tea time 7pm and was quite a spectacular show,i tried to film some lightening on me mobile phone and wow got a perfect shot of some fork lightening C/G,then the storm passed over and was gone,but on watching the news later a golfer had been struck and killed by lightening that very evening at 7-30pm - when i checked my footage on me mobile phone the time of the fork lightening was 7 - 30 pm:shok:
  11. Hi thanks for all the info - quite alot to digest there:D . I have only been looking around at the moment,as i am currently building a new fish shedd, so funds being tied up in that at the moment:) . I did get a great Metcheck catalogue and working out costing of thermometers,anometers rainfall meters and a barometer it seems the Davis Pro2 seems a good buy :wallbash: . Also keeping a 'proper' diary of the records is a great idea and one i had not really thought of doing:doh: ,so shall do plenty of more research and take it from there:) and thanks for all the info:D .
