  1. I'm craving a decent dry spell more than anything...even that seems to much to ask for in this poxy extended autumn wet season
  2. I know where you are coming from but how can you kill something that does not exist? We have had no weather worthy of winter at all. Just relentless October-November style rubbish. Roll on Spring for me as well.
  3. Anyone revelling in this revolting non stop rainy weather deserves an all expenses paid holiday to the Somerset Levels.
  4. Waiting for wintry weather in winter 2013/14 is akin to having sex... It's a painstaking and arduous task that seems to go on and on forever, and just when you think things are going your way, nothing happens.
  5. Can someone send that complete and utter weapon James Madden on an extended holiday somewhere?....Sick of reading/hearing his garbage.
  6. Is it safe to blow out January as an epic fail of a winter month yet?
  7. Now squall lines like that is what I call interesting weather....wind and rain pah! Seen way more than enough of that rubbish thanks.
  8. Damn that was an intense line of weather. Thunder and lightning with rain/hail and snow. Near 7 degree drop in temperature in a very short space of time from 9.4c to 2.9c
  9. Thunder and Lightning...rain, hail and snow. Temp dropped from 9c to 2.9c in no time....most amazing squall line I've seen.
  10. Don't know what anyone else thought but today definately did NOT feel like a January day. When the sun was out and I was out of the breeze, it was a very pleasant feeling...almost like a mild March day.
  11. Here's a couple of more irritating things you hear.... "Its not been a mild winter"....erm +2.4c above average January (so far) following an above average December! Good job its not mild then eh? "Saving on heating bills"....hmmm losing money on replacing ridge tiles...repairing roof leaks from the insane rainy spells...replacing damaged fence panels...so sort of cancels that one out.
  12. But....but....but....utopia is but 10 days away doncha know?......Never mind the fact that its been 10 days away since the start of December.....
  13. I don't even bother reading the MOD thread anymore because its become Groundhog Day in there. Every day its the same....we have Gibby's (well written and informative) summaries which contain the same words over and over..."rain"..." no signs of cold"...and a distinct lack of the word which would make my heart sing right now .."dry"....then we have the daily postings along the lines of "if a-z happens then we could get a cold spell in 10 days time"....trouble is we never get further than b and the whole thing collapses and we're back into rinse and repeat and the story starts anew the next day....if....but....maybe....10 days time....Plenty of winter yet.... Meanwhile the rain just keeps coming, the ground remains saturated, and another day goes by...the clock is ticking on this "winter". Nope....lets just get real here....January has failed to deliver anything remotely resembling wintry...a couple of frosts aside....and can now be safely written off for low lying areas of England and Wales in terms of seeing lying snow. And who's to say February will be any better? Just because that month might have delivered cold weather in the past, does not mean a damn thing as to what will happen this year.
  14. This "winter" is like that huge fat stinking turd you find in the bog pan that no one will own up to leaving there...that stinks the room out....you try and try to get rid of it but it just won't flush away. A true Frankenstein's monster of a season. The Atlantic has been akin to a petulant malicious child this season, stamping its feet in fury and hurling its tantrums in our direction over and over... All the hopecasting in the world on the main thread changes nothing...this "winter" is stinking the place out....dress it up how you want....look at all the charts for 10 days time all you want....Winter 2013/14 has been a complete and utter fail. Far too wet...too windy...too disruptive....too miserable....with minimal dry weather, few frosts and no snow. Utter utter crap. I can't wait for Spring.
  15. Oh joy...another storm to batter the country....just what the doctor didnt order...more damaging destructive winds...more disruption to power supplies and the transport network and more flooding misery. Just puts the tin hat on this pathetic revolting perma-autumn. Sorry I don't find such weather "interesting" but this weather has a negative impact on people's lives and has no redeeming features to it whatsoever. January is a write off...bin it.
  16. Quite. Have often wondered whether the people who like filthy wet stormy weather would have a change of attitude if they were unfortunate enough to be flooded out of their homes, or have their roofs damaged by the wind. Perhaps its because said people have been fortunate enough to be unaffected by the foul winter we've had so far that they find such weather "interesting" or "exciting".
  17. I don't know which is more weird...hating dry sunny weather...and God knows there are significant parts of the UK that are badly in need of it, or liking miserable wet potentially destructive weather.
  18. Does anyone know when was the last time we had a northerly? Let alone a potent one? All we seem to have had for weeks on end is filth with an accompanying wind from the West/South/South West/or South South East. I
  19. You've been lucky then...havent seen a third of my driveway for over three weeks now...not to mention large parts of the fields around me what with all the floodwater. Was starting to dry out but last nights deluge put paid to that. Having looked at the latest models...I'm writing January off. The way it looks at the moment I'll be awarding January a big fat zero out of 10...same as its ugly sister of a "winter" month December. So thats zero out of 20....dear oh dear.
