Helen Daniels, eat your heart out.

Thats Helen Daniels from Neighbours... 1985 till.. well... 1998? Neighbours, as in Jim Robinson and errr, who was in it when I last watched it? Harold Bishop? Anyway, the whole point of this totally pointless blog is to say good neighbours really do exist. (not only in Ramsay Street, Melbourne, Australia). I came home tonight after work and the weekly food shop in Sainsburys to find that my neighbour had mowed my lawn for me. Ok, ok, my grass was over grown.... but I met my new neighbour saturda

Life

Life's a strange thing. At the moment, I am going through the most difficult moment so far in 29 years - something, having gone through half the stuff I have had to deal so far with - seems pretty trival. But atm, I am finding it hard to deal with the day to day things in life - you know, like getting out of bed. Life really can be sh*t. Its like this is the tip of a very big ice berg and I am not sure if I will actually get through it. God, what a depressing blog - but hey, thats how I fe

Mothers Day

Mini Me gave me her Mothers Day card this morning (at 6.43am) that she made at school on Friday. It read: To Mum, Happy Mothers Day Love From Emily. Then, there was a little ab-lib she added this morning, all by herself (I have included the spellings, as they did make me smile) "Thank you for dooing my sool (school) clotes (clothes) and dooing the woshing up. Thank you for popping me to bed." I knew there was a point to life.

Christmas

Well, I was woke up at 06.02am this morning by my darling Mini Me, asking if she could go in the front room to see if Father Christmas had been. By 06.07am I realised I hadnt been in a coma for the past 24 hours, and infact mini-me had got the wrong day. Bugger. Two early mornings instead of the 1. Anyway, by 08.19am, I managed to convince mini-me that Santa was coming down the chimney tonight and not today (what with it still being night at 6.02am - which she couldnt grasp meant early morning

Growing Old

I think the life cycle is all backwards.......... You should die first, start out dead and get it out of the way. Then you wake up in a nursing home, feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, then, when you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day. You work 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You drink alcohol, you party, you're generally promiscuous, and you get ready for Secondary School. You go to primar

Dance Classes

Emily (aka Mini Raven) loves dancing, and spends her time (when the Bratz dolls havent been removed due to bad behaviour) dancing to music on the radio, or when watching The Hits. I couldnt help but notice just how quickly she picked up the dance moves to the likes of The p*ssy Cat dolls (or is that dollz - im a parent, and unfashionable - and for those over 87, thats p*ssy as in cat, not..... well....) Anyway, she has lots of spare energy, so thought it best to channel the extra energy doing

Lanarkshire Council Complaint Letters

.........allegedly (but it did make me smile) Clips from Lanarkshire Council complaint letters: · My bush is really overgrown round the front and my back passage has fungus growing on it. · He's got this huge tool that vibrates the whole house and I just can't take any more. · It's the dogs' mess that I find hard to swallow. · I want some repairs done to my cooker as it has backfired and burnt my knob off. · I wish to complain that my father

Holiday

Was on holiday last week in the IOW. Had a nice time, (have been there 7 times, so things got a bit boring) but mini-raven really enjoyed herself! Had a very busy time of it, visiting loads of places (Robin Hill, Blackgang Chine, Alum Bay and various pubs) Wish I could live there - so I will carry on playing the lottery. I have attached a few pictures - but since I am crap with computers, expect a load of pictures with the wrong description. Ok, here are the views from our gaff at St Helens

Fish

Our fish died yesterday. When I broke the news to Mini Raven, she cheerfully announced she has a new name for the fish. (It had had 4 names in its short life) The last name we should give Taylor (the name before Andy - I think - it changed regulary) was................. Dead. Yep, according to mini-raven, because the fish is dead, we should call it Dead. Bless. Hope it had a safe journey through the sewer pipes leading to Brighton Beach.

Magners Irish Cider

I wondered what the big deal was about his on the 12th December 2005. So I bought a bottle, and thought it was disgusting. I told people what I thought, and they were shocked.... "It tastes like apples" "Its soooo refreshing" said another "You must have bought a moldy bottle" was the reply from my sister. So, I decided to give it another chance. Just maybe the bottle I bought back in december had flemented? (say things how I spell them) So, this evening, I thought I would see (again) wha

Ummm

Well, its been an age since I last updated my blog. Well since Easter. Which feels like ages ago. Anyway, im waffling. Waffle, waffle. Not a lot really been happening. I was on the possible redundancy list with the NHS recently, which was a worrying time. However, during my interview, personality questionaire (with 230 questions -why? I was applying for a job I have done for the past 9 years) and a 2 hour test, they finally concluded I am capable of doing the job I currently do. Thanks f

Decorating (pictures Included)

Easter weekend was spent decorating Mini Raven's bedroom. Mr Raven spent 1 hour 38 minutes helping to decorate (my stopclock was hidden) I spent 34 hours 11 minutes decorating (admitidly(sp) including drying time, and a trip to Chislehurst Caves on Good Friday) Anyway, the yellow walls are the before pictures. The pink walled pictures (and a lovely mini me (aka a young Catherine Zeta) looking lovely in her bedroom) are the finished bedroom decorating. Not much else has been happening - o

Greedy B*stards

This year is the first year we have had to book a holiday during school holidays. We are going to the Isle of Wight (my favourite haven in the world.... well, in the affordable world). Anyway. Last year, we went in June for 1 week, and it cost (board and ferry ride) £400 for all 3 of us. This year, its costing £700. The reason? We are limited to going in school holidays. An hour's ferry ride (no doubt packed to the rafters without a seat) is costing us £150 alone. Thats without the petrol

Emily's 2nd Parents Evening

Well, Em has been at school for 6 months (bar about 2 months half term) and tonight we had her 2nd parents evening. Not really sure what I was expecting (what with 2 full time parents should be culled/put down by the age of 40/or sterilised threads we have had recently) - sorry, have to say, those threads make me die of laughter, really, they do. Like I choose to work! Anyway. Off topic there. (and doing what I do best - waffling) Despite being one of two parents who has to work full time

The Week So Far

Oh dear, I am in the mood for chatting. Although don't worry, I have had the hypnotherapy to rid me of waffling. The week so far........ Sunday, I was nice and relaxed after being off sick from work (now fully recovered) for 2 weeks. First day back was the following day. Panic set in. I was due to take annual leave from Tuesday onwards to spend some lovely quality with with Em as its half term. Oh dear. 1 day to catch up with 2 weeks worth of work, and handing over 4 days work.... So, th

Conjunctivitus - Part 3

Its Mr Raven's turn. HA HA HA HA HA HA (sorry, am trying to stiffle the laughter) I am feeling a lot better. Back to work on Monday, for 1 day. I have the rest of the week off to spend with the lovely mini raven, who is on half term. So, as long as its dry, there will be plenty of trips to the park, and also a trip to HobbyCraft, as she would like to make a piggy bank that she saw in the local newspaper (yes, the 3rd issue we have received since 2002) And I suppose I will also have to endur

Conjunctivitus - Part 2

My turn this time <_< Been ill for weeks with a cold/chest infection/cough and general exhaustion and low and behold, I woke up this morning unable to prize my eyes open. My left eye took around 2 minutes to open, but my right eye, which has it really bad took a bit longer. Its all horrid, red and swollen - this morning it actually looked like I had been punched in my eye Still, I have started a course of eye drops that the lovely Mr Raven purchased for me in boots, and they cleared E

Conjunctivitus (oh Dear)

I have no doubt spelt the medical terminology incorrectly (along with half the words in this blog) Anyway, you know what I mean. (oh dear, starting this blog with a waffle - not a good sign) Anyway, Emily (the lovely mini me) has caught conjuntivitus (sp) We noticed a slightly red eye on Sunday, so I initially treated it with warm water and cotton wall balls, and it did clear up. Until today. Mr Raven received a phonecall from school informing him that Em is unable to attend school until th

Whats Been Going On In The Snow Raven Family?

Not a lot to be honest, hence hardly any blog entries for a while (well, 2 weeks <_< ) Had a very nice Christmas, New Year was poo, as I spent the chimes of Big Ben in tears. New Years Day was Emily's 5th Birthday - amazing how quick time flies Em has been at school now for 4 months and is getting on really well with her reading and writing. (when of course she does something other than 'nothing' or 'I can't remember') Myself? Well, this year, I am on a diet until I loose 3 stone.
