This weekend Pembrey Beach in SW Wales will see Land Sailing action  as Kite Buggies, Land Boarding, BloKarts, X-Sails or Mini Land Yachts take to the sands. The NoBarriers16 event name comes from Carmarthenshire Land Sailing Club not wanting any barriers between the various sports.

Along the 6 miles of hard sand, the event takes place on Saturday and Sunday 21st and 22nd May 2016, with arrivals for camping on the Friday.

Sunday does look the better day for spectators at least with drier, hopefully brighter conditions but still a light onshore breeze. Saturday currently looks potentially quite wet with blustery fresh winds but they’re still onshore.

Through the weekend, a weather system is forecast to head in from the Atlantic, bringing heavy rain and showers Friday night into Saturday, the flow remains from a general SW direction and once the frontal bands clear it will be drier, brighter and not as windy.

More Weather details

The frontal band does seem to want to wave and this means it could stagnate feeding more and more rain over Wales. If the rain band sways eastwards, there will be a clearance and a brighter drier afternoon with just a few light showers. If the band gets stuck, it could be a wet Saturday. So worth checking the forecast again on Friday to see if this band has shifted.  The winds around the rain band will be fresh S/SSW onshore 15-20mph with gusts up to 30mph, easing later in the day. It will feel cool at only 12C.

Sunday is quieter with some cloud along the coast but bright spells coming through to cheer the day and a W/SW breeze 10-15mph gusting 20. So not calm, still onshore but a drier day as pressure builds, 14C.

Overnight

For overnight campers, Friday night does look wet and blustery but Saturday night look more settled with lighter winds, showers fading and temperatures dipping to 11C. The Hog roast on Saturday evening will keep you warm. Check out the Forecast here.
