No Let Up In The Cold

There's no let up in the cold weather this week, or as Michael puts it 'If I were a brass monkey, I'd wrap up well and face south' in a biting wind chill over the next few days. The snow showers will continue too, along with low overnight temperatures to see out the end of January and well into the first week of February.

There's no let up in the cold weather this week, or as Michael puts it 'If I were a brass monkey, I'd wrap up well and face south' in a biting wind chill over the next few days.  The snow showers will continue too, along with low overnight temperatures to see out the end of January and well into the first week of February.

The Weekend

A bitterly cold feel as the strong northerly winds hit gale force for some, making it feel much colder than the already low temperatures, drifitng snow over the northern hills may cause some problems too.  Snow showers continue for many areas, particularly around the west and east coasts and there will be a hard frost leading to a risk of ice on untreated surfaces, and with any snow a refreeze of previously treated roads is possible.

Wind Gust Strength Saturday 31st January

Next Week

There's a couple of low pressure systems forming that will head south through Monday and Tuesday, and these are keeping forecasters on their toes, as the forecast track isn't clear, and they could both produce some snow, sleet and rain, heavy at times, particularly for the south west of England on Monday is the low pressure tracks close enough.

Eventually high pressure over the Atlantic topples and we see the possibility of things starting to turn a little milder later in the week and into the weekend, but there's plenty of time for that to change, and it's going to remain cold with wintry showers for the next week at least.
