Flip flopping temperatures, as we swing from milder to cooler over the next few days, and the jet stream takes a more direct route to us from midweek, bringing the risk of gales at times. There's also a hint of a cold end to January, so keep an eye on the updates.
As we mentioned this morning, we're back into a yo-yo pattern, with the temperature swining from mild to chilly on and off through the next week or so.
The culprit, as Michael Fish explains, is the jet stream, as it takes more direct aim at the UK & Ireland during next week, propelling wind and rain in our direction at times, with colder spells sandwiched in between the wetter, windier periods.
Saturday is set to be the better of the two days, as rain heads south east on and off through Sunday, but it will be milder with a thaw for lying snow away from the highest ground.
The new working week will see spells of rain, and turn increasingly windy from mid week with gales possible at times, and we're back into the flip flopping between milder and colder air. There's some uncertainty about the end of the week and next weekend, but there are signs that it may turn colder again, but there's a lot that could change before them, so keep an eye on the forecast updates.
