Northern Ireland has been enjoying some drier weather this week after last week’s deluges. There is some more rain to come from the Atlantic, later Weds and as we head into the weekend (Friday night looks wet), but long dry spells in-between.

Figures just issued by the Met Office show that, unsurprisingly, Northern Ireland has had a very wet first half of November. Its monthly average for November is 112.5mm and already there has been just over 150mm falling (134%) up to Nov 16th. SE parts of N.Ireland, notably Co.Down, have seen over 200% of their average already, as heavy showers kept pulsing up the Irish Sea and drenching eastern areas.

Torrential rain on Thursday and Friday led to flooding in many parts of Northern Ireland, with counties Down and Armagh being worst hit. Several roads were impassable as a result, with roads in other counties having problems too. Newry and parts of Belfast faced evening chaos as they saw flash flooding from the persistent heavy rain. The River Corcrain burst its banks on Friday night and flooded homes. Many fields were still underwater by the weekend too.
