24th April
Today there still could be one or two isolated heavy showers but for most the emphasis is on fine and bright conditions.
Friday is looking mroe lively. Below is the Netweather forecast Rainfall total for 24 hours fri 00Z til Sat 00Z

These rainfall totals come from heavy, thundery showers pushing up from the continent early on Friday and moving right up through northern England into Scotland. Two things are happening, the old front from Weds, which is over Grampian on Thurs am will waver back over the UK and be reinvigorated, helping the heavy rain over Scotland. There is also a plume of warmer air coming into SE England creating instablity in the meduim levels of the atmosphere, allowing air to lift. There are variations between the models about timings and areas most at risk, although SE Britian looks like seeing these showers in the morning, northern Britain later on. Areas to the east and west of this plume will have fine weather and some real warmth for East Anglia, if the showers stay further inland.

23rd April sees another line of potentially thundery showers, following Monday's wet start to the week.
The Synoptic chart below shows an old occluding front clear away over the Northern Isles but the next occluding cold front slowing moving NE across the UK, bringing morning rain to N.Ireland, Wales and SW England. The front is followed by a trough line of sharp showers coming in from the SW

The Netweather radar picture from 11BST shows the frontal rain, with the odd shower thrown ahead of the front. Also the first signs of the showery trough signal over Co. Cork and Co. Kerry.

Worth watching the progress of the radar echoes off SW Eire. These showers are in the unstable air and with the warmth of the day, will be more prone to TCU and CB formation. These are forecast to follow the flow again moving NE so heading for N.Ireland particularly this afternoon and this evening. There could also be hefty downpours around the Bristol Channel, so north Devon and Cardiff areas. The main frontal rain creeps across Wales, sits over W.Scotland and moves into NW England and W.Mids. There will be a few isolated hefty showers ahead of this front, for eastern England.

Later this week
Further threat of thunderstorms for southern Britain, mainly SE, on Friday 25th
