Eggcellent Weather This Easter?

With the long Easter Weekend almost upon us and many places enjoying fine weather recently, some of you may be thinking about getting the barbeque out at some point this weekend or generally wanting to get outdoor chores done or do any number of outdoor pursuits which benefit from fine and dry weather.

Good Friday and Saturday are looking great to get outdoors, with high pressure firmly in charge across the UK, bringing fine and settled conditions with sunny spells across much of the UK, though the far northwest may see some cloud and rain on Saturday, as an Atlantic weather front brushes past here. It will be cooler than of late though, especially across the south. Saturday morning could start frosty in places too.  Temperatures by day ranging from 11-13C across Scotland and Northern Ireland, to 13-15C across England Wales.

However, changes are afoot come Sunday, as our area of high pressure retreats northeast over Scandinavia to allow a developing area of low pressure to drift in from France and Benelux.  The models are indicating outbreaks of rain, perhaps heavy and thundery in places, to spread in across southern England and East Anglia during the morning, before spreading across the rest of England and Wales during the afternoon.  It will feel rather cool too in a northeasterly wind. It may turn drier and perhaps brighter towards the southeast of England and East Anglia by the evening if you’re lucky. And it looks like the unsettled conditions will hang around through Monday too across England and Wales, with further rain or showers possible, though the rain perhaps not as heavy or persistent as Sunday.

It’s not all bad news, most of Scotland and Northern Ireland may well stay dry and fine with sunny spells throughout the weekend, with just a small chance of a shower on Monday across southern Scotland, though there will be a cold easterly wind taking the edge off the temperature.

Further into next week, it does look to turn unsettled everywhere though, as high pressure remains to the north and northeast of the UK while low pressure take over from the south and southwest. So many areas will see heavy showers or longer spells of rain at times for the rest of the week, though temperatures should recover across the south.
