I'm officially in control of the TV remote this weekend, as MotoGP rolls into Texas and World Superbikes take over Aragon, it feels like a mini close season since the first rounds last month.
MotoGP at the Circuit Of The Americas (CoTA) in Austin, the capital city of Texas is in the right place to catch early season storms, and this weekend might deliver a couple. Friday looks like a regular Texas spring day, warm, dry and with breaks in the cloud allowing afternoon temperatures to reach 26-28c, but the weekend has the potential to make things even more challenging. Saturday looks like it may be a little more overcast, with slightest chance of a few spots of rain in the air, but still warm and most likely dry. Sunday is where things are currently looking 'interesting', with the potential for rain and possibly a storm or two to bubble up during the afternoon, the MotoGP race starts at 2pm local time (8pm BST) which makes it a little less likely that it'll be affected by any rain, but there is a chance of something brewing as the race goes on.
Steve from Austin, TX, USAWorld Superbikes hits Motorland Aragon, Alcaniz in Spain and it's not looking too bad overall, mild rather than hot, some cloud around and a slightly blustery breeze at times. Teams can expect temperatures in the low to mid twenties and the only fly in the ointment is a chance of rain overnight Friday into Saturday which could be locally heavy, with a chance of a rumble of thunder or two, otherwise the current models all point to a mainly dry race weekend for the first European round of the season.
This will be updated on Friday.
