Nearly 200 riders are in Yorkshire for the Grand Départ of the Tour de France this weekend, which moves over Northern England then from Cambridge to London on Monday.

Sat 5th July Stage 1 Leeds to Harrogate
After a cloudy damp start, it should be brighter and drier as Stage 1 starts off into the Yorkshire Dales at midday. The Westerly winds will be light, so no issues as the route moves north and west to Skipton and will aid a little to the route from Hawes all the way to Ripon. There is the risk of a shower over the hills but mostly it should be a fair Saturday afternoon for Yorkshire.

Stage 2  York to Sheffield
Some tough climbs on Sunday and it will be more windy. Fresh SW winds to start Stage 2, which ease to moderate by mid afternoon  So a side wind towards Sheffield. This stage moves through Yorkshire, Gt. Manchester and Derbyshire and is more likely to see a lot of showers. A few brief dry, even brighter spells but the showers keep on coming. So this could make for some interesting downhill action

Stage 3 Cambridge to London
(Cambs. Essex, Gt. London) The 12:25pm start should be dry and sunny. It will be a bit warmer on Monday up to 20C with light West winds. There is a small chance of a shower but really it looks like a fine afternoon for spectators and the riders
