PROCESSIONS weather: Edinburgh Cardiff Belfast London Vote100

If you are taking part in the Processions events this weekend in Belfast, Cardiff, London or Edinburgh, the weather is looking fine. Colourful gatherings for the Vote100 suffrage celebrations.

Issued: 7th June 2018 13:03

A look at the weather for the four procession events taking place this weekend across the UK. These celebrations reflect on the path of Suffrage movement and the Suffragettes, one hundred years since the first British women won the right to vote.

On Sunday 10th June 2018, women and girls from across the UK will come together to create a vast participatory artwork taking place simultaneously for one day. PROCESSIONS will be a living portrait of UK women in the 21st century.

The events take place in the afternoon, starting around 2pm but meeting before that, for those who have signed up to the event. Participants will be given a headscarf of white, green or lilac material, the colours of the Suffrage Movement, and a flowing procession of these colours will fill the streets.

There is a good chance that all four processions will remain dry. It will feel warm and humid, especially for London. Winds will be light and from the NE. The forecast looks fair and bright. Northern Ireland may have more cloud with bright or sunny spells for Edinburgh, Cardiff and London. Not bad at all and hopefully the threat of scattered heavy, thundery showers will keep away for Sunday afternoon.

London
Very warm, muggy and close. Fine, dry with a NE breeze. Just worth keeping an eye on the Netweather Radar on Sunday morning to see if there is a change to the position of thunderstorms lurking over northern France. Very High grass pollen, take a bottle of water and put your sunscreen on.

Cardiff
Warm, quite humid with a NE breeze. It should stay fine and dry, just worth keeping an eye on the radar on Sunday morning to see where the thunderstorms are lurking, just in case. Moderate UV levels, slap on that sunscreen before leaving Cardiff City Football Stadium and the grass pollen season is underway.

Belfast
Even with a fair amount of cloud, it should be a fair day, brightness getting through and should stay dry. It will feel warm with a very light NE wind. Do still remember your sunscreen as the UV still gets through the cloud cover. Take a bottle water as you travel from the Titanic quarter towards the City Hall.

Edinburgh
The wind will be from the NE but it should be very light and good sunny spells are expected. It should remain dry and be warm at 19C. Do remember your sunscreen as you walk away from the Meadows, along Princes Street and the grass pollen season is beginning to take off.

Participants will each be given a wrap to wear in either green, white or violet - the suffragette colours. They will be choreographed into bands to appear as a flowing river of colour through the city streets, creating a living portrait of women and girls in the 21st century.
