Anyone getting married would hope for fine weather and brides, especially, want one less thing to worry about on their big day. Saturday the 19th May 2018 is looking fine, dry and sunny. Ideal for a Royal wedding. Average temperatures for Windsor in mid-May are around 17C and above is forecast 20C, 68F. On average, there are about 6 hours of sunshine for the 19th but it looks like there will be plenty of blue skies and warm sun this weekend. Quite lucky really, as records show that temperatures on this date can vary from 11 to 27C!

Royal weddings haven't fared too badly, weather-wise. Prince William and Kate’s wedding was cloudy but warm at Westminster Abbey in April 2011. Charles and Diana’s in July 1981 was dry, warm and sunny. And Charles and Camilla’s wedding was fine and sunny in April 2005.

They will marry at St George’s Chapel Windsor. The service starts at noon.

At 1pm, following the service, the couple will travel around Windsor in a horse-drawn carriage, providing an opportunity for members of the public to see them and join in with the celebrations.

The carriage procession at one o’clock for about half an hour will be in bright sunshine, glorious conditions with light winds, ideal and not too hot for the crowds. No sunglasses allowed though for the bride and groom.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead have been encouraging people who are heading to watch on Saturday to plan their travel. They also have advised people to think about what they were going to wear, on a potentially long day.

This massive logistical event doesn’t need any preventable illnesses like sunstroke /heatstroke. Take your sunhat, sunglasses, wear sunscreen. Drink enough fluid, water is most helpful, a cup of tea from a thermos flask also. Pubs will be allowed to open until 1 am on the nights of Friday 18th and Saturday 19th May.

The Royal Wedding will be broadcast on ITV from 9.25am on Saturday 19th May. BBC coverage starts at 9 am and Sky has announced that it will broadcast the entire wedding in Ultra High Definition (UHD), a world first for any royal event, they say. It is also going to be on the radio with the FA Cup being played much later in the day this year. For the 5:15 pm kickoff at Wembley, it will still be pleasantly warm and sunny.
