Several parts of the UK saw 21C (70F) on Friday 8th October after a very mild night. With a fair amount of cloud, it depended on sunny spells. More for Saturday but a shift on Sunday.
In southeast England, 21C may not turn too many heads but elsewhere in the UK this early October surge of warmth and 70 Fahrenheit has been causing a stir. By mid-afternoon numerous places had reached 20+C. It's remained cool, grey and cloudy for some parts of southern Britain with a coolness tonight and fog early Saturday. Away from the SE, the mild air will hold on through Friday night.
Friday has been less windy than the previous day although still with a lot of cloud about and even fog early on. Edinburgh and Belfast Aldergrove had very mild nights sticking at 18 or 19C then dipping to around 16C. The Scottish October night record (highest min.) was 16.1C, with Edinburgh just dipping to 15.9C as shown on its NCM (National Climatological Message which is issued at 09Z and 21Z)

London. The southeast will be feeling hard done by with this grey gloom and coolness. Hopefully after a clear but cooler start on Saturday and with hardly any breeze temperatures will rise to 19C in the sunny spells. The frontal band from the far NW will have made it's way right down to southern Britain by Sunday morning so more cloud about on Sunday and that could keep the temperatures down again.
There will be a shift this weekend as high pressure builds in from the west and the low pressure near to Iceland moves just north of Scotland. This will pull cooler and fresher air over northern parts of the UK. As the low clears a tuck of Arctic Maritime air will reach down into Scotland and nighttime temperatures will dip further.
