End of March weather as lockdown rules change for England

A bit of warmth on the way next week after a windy end to the weekend. Rain does keep on arriving from the Atlantic before changes again for the Easter weekend.

From Monday 29th there will be some easing in the lockdown restrictions for England as the 'Stay at Home' rule ends here. Wales has already seen some changes, but Northern Ireland and Scotland remain with the 'Stay at Home' message until later next week.

Some schools will also start their Easter Holidays next week, so how is the weather looking for these outdoor meetups, sports even holidays with no foreign breaks allowed this time.

Warmer for a while, although Easter weekend is looking colder at the moment. It is a bit finely balanced though so we’ll just have a look at the start of next week.

After a fine, but chilly start on Saturday the weather goes downhill as a deep Atlantic low brings some very windy weather across the UK with rain at times.

Monday starts with milder air over England and Wales as temperatures get into the low teens, a few eastern spots into the higher teens. It will be cooler further north and that cooler air will reach into northern England and north Wales during Tuesday. It then might pull right down through Britain on Wednesday so a chilly start and subdued temperatures midweek. However, SE England could hold onto the milder air and so stay warm. Looking colder for all by Maundy Thursday.

GFS model showing warmer conditions early next week over England but a much colder theme later in the week, into Easter weekend.

There will be a series of weather fronts heading in from the west, with heavy rain at times for Wales and NW England, so pathways could turn muddy, but we have had quite a long spell of settled drier weather. SE and eastern England will be more sheltered but not immune from the incoming rainbands.

It will be very windy to start the week, but the winds drop away by Tuesday with a calmer setup for midweek. High pressure edges in but it will be the balance of where the high settles and if a low pressure over the North Sea pulls down the colder air to bring a chill for Easter weekend.
