A southwesterly flow from the sub-tropical Atlantic will bring a warm Tuesday, perhaps 25C in the southeast. Cooler later in the week, with some rain for the north.
The weather will remain rather changeable for northern areas for the rest of this week and into the weekend, with some rain at times, but also with some drier and sunnier periods. Southern areas will be mostly dry and settled and, although it will be rather cloudy a times, there will be some sunshine. Feeling warm and humid today where the sun comes out, thanks to a southwesterly flow all the way from the sub-tropical Atlantic, temperatures could reach 25C in the SE of England. But cooler conditions spreading into across Scotland will reach all parts on Thursday. The weekend is looking wet and windy for a time across Scotland, but for England and Wales it should stay dry and bright or sunny, while becoming increasingly warm in the south again.
For now, there were morning starts with a chill in the air recently, but it’s a pretty mild start to the day this morning, with temperatures widely in double figures, temperatures already 16-18C widely across England and Wales at breakfast time.
A warm front pushing east yesterday evening introduced warm air of sub-tropical origin overnight, this air is also laden with moisture, so an overcast morning across much of England and Wales, most will stay dry, but the cloud will be thick enough over hills and around coasts across the west for some drizzle. Into the afternoon, the morning cloud should break to allow sunny spells to develop, though western hills and coasts could stay dull with further patchy drizzle.
North of a weak cold front lying across Ireland and northern England, a bright or sunny start for the far north of England and Scotland. Staying bright or sunny for eastern Scotland and NE England into the afternoon, but thicker cloud, strengthening winds and outbreaks of increasingly heavy rain will spread into western Scotland, while cloud and patchy rain will affect N. Ireland and NW England.
A warmer day than we’ve seen of late, afternoon temperatures reaching 18-21C across Scotland and N. Ireland, cooler in the wetter western Scotland. Further south we are looking at highs of 19-23C, perhaps 25C in London with some sunshine.
A spell of wet and windy weather spreading east across Scotland this evening, before rain and winds ease overnight to cooler and clearer conditions from the west, blustery showers around western coasts of Scotland. Elsewhere, a cold front will slide southeast across N. Ireland, northern England and Wales overnight, bringing thicker cloud and some showery rain in places. Drier but mostly cloudy for the Midlands, southern and eastern England, where it will be rather mild and muggy.
Wednesday will be cooler but with sunny spells for Scotland, N. Ireland and northern England – following the passage of the cold front overnight, some showers affecting western Scotland, N. Ireland and Cumbria. Cloud and patchy rain along a weakening cold front will continue to push south across southern areas of England and Wales through the day, perhaps not clearing the far SE of England until well into the evening, brighter but cooler and fresher conditions following from the northwest across Wales, Midlands and eastern England in the afternoon. Feeling muggy under the cloud in the south, temperatures reaching 21-23C, in the north a cooler 16-18C.
A cooler and fresher feel for all on Thursday, as the cold front clears south over the near continent while a ridge of high pressure builds in from the southwest, keeping much of England and Wales dry, sunny in the morning for most, sunshine perhaps becoming confined towards eastern England in the afternoon as cloud thickens in the west. Cloudier and breezier day for Scotland and N. Ireland, with patchy rain developing from the west across western Scotland into the afternoon.
Low pressure to the north of Scotland on Friday will push fronts southeast across northern areas, bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain through the day accompanied by windy conditions. Drier for southern areas, though generally cloudy away from the SE England – where we could see some sunshine.
The weekend looks to remain unsettled Scotland and N. Ireland, with a spell of wet and windy weather later on Saturday and into Sunday morning, before drier weather moves in later on Sunday. However, much of England and Wales will have a dry weekend and becoming increasingly warm. Temperatures could reach the mid-20s Celsius across eastern England. Always cloudier across northern England and north Wales, perhaps with some patchy drizzle or light rain possible later on Saturday.
