Some warm sunshine for the south during the next few days, but summery the weather is slipping away as low pressure takes over, with increasingly unsettled conditions, especially this weekend.
England and Wales enjoyed a fine Monday with blue skies for many, showers affected Scotland though. Showers will again affect the far north and west of Scotland today, along with rain for N. Ireland later, but again England and Wales should enjoy another fine day with mostly blue skies thanks to high pressure in charge here. High pressure will hang on across the south on Wednesday, but northern areas will have a cloudy and breezier day, with outbreaks of rain spreading east. These unsettled conditions across the north spreading southeast across most parts on Thursday, with most seeing some rain by Friday. A ridge of high pressure will rebuild Friday, so dry and sunny for most, bar the odd shower. However, wet and windy conditions look set to sweep across Britain on Saturday, followed by a cool and breezy day with sunshine and showers on Sunday.
For now, it was a chilly start earlier for many thanks to clear skies overnight, with temperatures falling into mid-single figures for some during the night. But with a sunny start for many this morning, temperatures are quickly recovering. There is more in the way of cloud across the far north and northwest, with a few showers across northern and western Scotland, otherwise, the rest of Britain has mostly blue skies for the morning commute.
The showers will continue across the far north of Scotland through the morning, before cloud thickens from the west across N. Ireland then western Scotland into the afternoon, with some patchy rain moving in through the afternoon here. Otherwise eastern Scotland, England and Wales will enjoy another dry and fine day, best of the sunshine this morning as cloud will tend to build into the afternoon, though blue skies perhaps throughout the day across the far south. Temperatures reaching 15-18C across the north, 19-21C across the south. Winds mostly light, so it will feel warm despite temperatures in the shade not exactly high for July.
Weather fronts bringing cloud and rain eastwards across Scotland and N. Ireland tonight, quite heavy at times in the north and west. Cloud and patchy drizzle spreading in for northwest England, but for the rest of England and Wales it will remain dry with clear spells. A milder night than last night.
A generally cloudier day on Wednesday away from south Wales, southern and eastern England, which will hang on to some sunny spells and a few degrees warmer than today too. Most of England and Wales will stay dry, but outbreaks of rain continuing to spread east across N. Ireland and Scotland through the day though rain tending to turn lighter and more patchy, some showers also arriving across northern England and far of Wales in the afternoon too after a dry morning. Warm in the south, temperatures reaching 20-23C with some sunshine, in the cloudier north reaching 15-19C.
Low pressure passing the north of Scotland on Thursday will pull a cold front southeast across Britain during the day, bringing a swathe of cloud and outbreaks of rain down across England and Wales, breezier day too. As the front bumps into higher pressure towards the south, rain tending to fizzle out by the time it reaches the southeast in the evening. Breezy and fresher conditions with sunshine and showers following across Scotland and N. Ireland. Temperatures reaching 16-19C across Scotland and N. Ireland, 18-22C for England and Wales.
A transitory ridge of high pressure builds in for Friday bringing a mostly dry and fine day with sunny spells, though a few showers are possible for south Wales and southern England while cloud will thicken in the west in the afternoon, heralding rain arriving in the evening across the far west. Temperatures reaching 17-19C in the north, 19-22C in the south.
Turning more unsettled across all parts from Thursday, particularly Saturday, with wet and windy conditions possible for many.
Not looking great at the moment for High Summer over the weekend. A deepening area of low pressure moving from Ireland to Scotland during Saturday will sweep a spell of wet and windy conditions east across all parts through the morning, followed by blustery heavy showers in the afternoon. Sunshine and blustery showers for many on Sunday, feeling cool in the brisk westerly or northwestely wind.
