The International Book festival is now underway as the Arts festival continues. After a fine, sunny start to the week, Tuesday is looking damp but not for long.

Edinburgh Arts festival has been running since July 30th and continues this week inlcuding exhibitions, performances, screenings, artist talks and guided tours. David "Baileys Stardust" exhibition is on at the Scottish National Gallery. Each year the festival commissions new work by leading and emerging Scottish artists. This year’s commissions programme is titled The Improbable City. Anyone been up the mulitcoloured Scotsmans steps yet?

This week from Festivals Edinburgh @EdFests
Amid the glorious bustling chaos of Edinburgh's multiple August festivals, there are also islands of serenity, contemplation and inspiration.
Edinburgh Art Festival is the UK's largest annual celebration of visual art, with over 250,000 visitors attending each year, and offers a wonderful range of artistic endeavour - the majority of which is free of charge to enjoy.
Most of the 60 or so exhibitions and events take place indoors, but when the weather's nice, try out one of the various free guided city tours of Art Festival venues and find out about all there is to see!  http://www.edinburghartfestival.com/events/category/guided_tours/

The Forecast

So what about the weather for wandering around Edinburgh. It's been a lovely weekend and start to the week. However...
Tuesday is looking grey and damp as dreich weather heads in from the North Sea. It won't rain all day but it won't be like Monday. There will be light and patchy rain, lots of cloud and it will feel cool in the NW wind off the Forth.

Wednesday looks much better! The sunshine returns (Midlothian schools go back midweek so the weather had to improve). Temperatures will rise to warm 18 or 19C with a breeze from the SW. Rain is possible by the evening but Thursday and Friday look fine with a few sunny spells. Next update on Thursday and we'll have a look at the Book festival which started at the weekend
