The Hoolie Arrives - And More To Come This Week

The first storm of autumn has arrived, and Jo Farrow has headed out to film a quick forecast video in the 'hoolie'! The upcoming week is set to keep the very autumnal conditions going too.

The Hoolie Arrives - And More To Come This Week

The first storm of the Autumn has arrived - overnight the top of Cairngorm saw gusts of 100mph+, with gusts of around 80mph now at that level, and 50-60mph at exposed lower levels of Scotland, northern England and Wales.

Ever the interprid forecaster, Jo Farrow has headed out into the hoolie, and it certainly looks fairly wild in southeast Scotland - she also has some information on what's expected to happen during the remainder of the day as the wind and rain heads into other parts of the country.

The new working week continues with the distinctly Autumnal theme, with blustery winds continuing and a raft of sharp showers packing in - especially in the north and west of the country but making their way further east at times too. The winds, having eased a touch overnight will strenghten again for Scotland and Northern Ireland in particular with exposed spots seeing gusts of 50-60mph+. There'll be a cool feel to the day as well with highs scrabbling to get into double figure in Scotland and hitting 9-13 for much of England and Wales.

Tuesday keeps everywhere on the cool side, with more showery rain moving through for many, winds will still be blustery with the north and east of the country seeing the strongest gusts of 50mph+ in exposed locations. It's also worth keeping an eye on a possible feature running close by to the south of the country bringing gales or even severe gales to southern coastal regions, and a spell of heavy rain - confidence is fairly low on this currently though as the development and subsequent track of the low pressure is giving the forecast models some difficulties.

Wednesday should be a calmer day, with many parts staying dry and feeling a touch warmer despite the wind still being fairly strong. Thursday takes us back to rain and wind though..
