Actually, isnt this good new for tonight?... assuming that echo at near ten to the hour (clock face) holds or builds?

The AIM strip over the uk is taken 12 hours before the evening.... = 6 minutes on the clock face
The orbit takes 5 days = 12 minutes per day
so a 3 day prediction would be 6 minutes + 3 days (3 x 12 = 36) 36 + the 6 minutes = 42 minutes
working back anti clockwise from the UK at the bottom (half past the hour) and for a 3 day prediction we would be looking at 48 minutes to the hour... more or less where that bright echo is!

Not really...we`ll be clouded out

But  I can confirm your calculations are spot on...... the orbit strips have been released earlier this season, and they seem to show that the images were taken, for the UK orbit, around midday

Timings are UTC

Let the frustrations begin

Edit;

AIM.HAMPTONU.EDU

The Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere (AIM) NASA satellite mission is exploring PMCs/NLCs.

What I'd presume is the temperature in the mesosphere at 54N, seems a little bit lower than long-term mean

I have been trying to get a simpler understanding of the Maarsy echoes

Here goes;

The Maarsy echoes detect 2 of the 3 ingredients needed to produce NLC`s.

These are water molecules and dust particles.

The 3rd are cold enough temperatures for these particles to freeze together to form the ice clouds

The readings from Maarsy are taken from directly above the station which is situated on the  Norwegian island of Andøya 69° N

So the current temperatures in the mesosphere would be needed to assess the ability of the dust/ water molecules to freeze

On a more pleasing note

Images are beginning to turn up so we can safely say the season has begun

Using the 30 minute on the clock face difference between the image being taken and the nights observations... that daisy would illustrate what was seen over Scotland last night.

When the Daisy came out last night I thought that

I did check up till around 2am but was clouded out..... ( nothing to do with the fact that for most of the day we was out celebrating the 40 year anniversary of the Villa winning the Cup⭐)

If clear tonight I will do an experimental stream to see if I can get some clear images up

Perfectly clear at the mo so I will have a little peep to see if I can spot some NLCs later but we will have to see.

Earliest I saw them last year was 9th June and that was an incredibly early year for them being spotted in Europe so I am not too hopeful.

Yes im tempted tonight because it should be crystal clear... even though i know its probably too early. Its looking like cloud will be an issue this next week. But i know i can see them from next Saturday - the 4th..

Well they have expanded considerably from the previous Aim ....Who knows if they have grown over the past 2 days?

I have started a livestream to show regular images

My camera is pointing due North with a light pollution filter fitted with WB set to tungsten

Have you joined that NLC forum, or just checking the sightings?

That forum seems rather quiet, as the NLC season is relatively short compared to the day to day weather.

Just checking the sightings, looks like the forum on there gets deader each year.
