Some amazing pics and video in here.

just re-posting these for posterity as they got a bit lost in the shuffle but I’ve never seen a storm here go from nothing to what you see in my videos within seconds. Unreal.

That's insane as I was further up in Andover and didn't get much.

Slight chance of weak low topped storms today. The risk is highest in the west especially in Ireland.

A long wave trough approaches from the west steeping upper level lapse rates. Winds will be generally weak with low level convergence zones being a focus of convection. Upper cloudiness will tend to limit the instability as temperatures are kept low.

A short wave vorticity lobe current south of Ireland is forecast to stretch but I am not totally convinced that it will not push a trough across the UK.

Worth keeping an eye on even though at the moment things look marginal.

I used to shoot jpg, but I leave my camera set to raw now, especially when shooting storms

The top picture is straight off the camera

If this had been shot as a jpg, it would have been unsalvageable! even if some parts are a little still a little blown out, I still like it.

And it was edited on my phone, so don't worry about PC power... mobile phones are very capable these days! Once you give raw files a try, you won't regret it!

Hi I just wondered what RAW editor you use on the phone?

Hi sprites

I use a combination of Lightroom mobile and Snapseed

Snapseed doesn't support CR3 files, which is what my camera outputs

I could just use lightroom to edit the photos, but I don't find it to be that user friendly

So I export the CR3 files as DNG, this allows me to edit them in Snapseed, which is free if I remember rightly

The phone I use is a pixel 6, hope that helps

If your camera is slightly older, Snapseed would probably be able to recognize the raw files, I'm shooting with the Eos R and still waiting for an update that offers support,so I can finally bin off Lightroom

Ok thanks it was quite a tricky setup to forecast last Wednesday.

I find your analysis posts useful.

Thanks I don't have a lightroom subscription, so may try Snapseed.

Have you tried the astro function on your pixel 6? .

I have a pixel 4a so should be ok for RAM.

I haven't tried the astro function, but I've heard it is quite decent

The only thing I've been disappointed with is how poor the video quality is in extreme low light conditions, ie, no street lights,  pointing out to sea trying to capture storms

Probably expecting too much to be honest. But I expected better from one of latest phones on the market

Recently had some lightning very nearby but gutted not to have seen it/heard any thunder. Sky did get very dark and it absolutely chucked it down! Impressive on radar. Some weak mammatus on the back side as it drifts NE too.

Is that a hook on the bottom of that pokey cell. That's pretty insane ! Mum sent me a video just south of Chelmsford. Frequent flashes and low deep thunder she then got the camera out and showed me the river down her road ! Madness. This is most likely surface based Ona convergence  zone. Being in luton I'm as they say wel jel, b ur can't complain had my share in brighton last week. This bodes well for tommorow looks like heavy showers/storms for most. Pulse st likely but still louder thunder on surface based storms and interesting structures !!

Looks stormy looking towards Lincolnshire and looking at the radar looks like there is torrential rain can't see any strikes detected though.
