Damn Supercaps

Looks the supercap may have blown again on my vp2. Transmission died last evening so I replaced the battery and it came back a few hours later but it did drop off again this evening. Now back up so it maybe a temporary blip. I think that will be the third time I've replaced it. So far they have blown on the anemometer repeater several times. Blown on the wireless repeater both caps. Luckily with those caps I can get ones that are higher voltage than the 2.7C under volt ones they use. Leaf soil and moisture station twice.  The caps sit across the 3v supply so it's a matter of time before they do blow. Sadly the ones in the vp2 you can't get the same capacity with a  higher voltage ratings. I could change them for a different capacity.

A job this weekend of course they will go in winter and in the middle of the working week so you can't fix the buggers.

Where do you normally buy yours, as I figure I need to buy some spares, for eventual replacement?

Does anybody know the size of the 10f capacitor in the Davis unit, as I want to replace it with a 15f ruggedised version, not only is it cheaper than the Davis Super Cap but it provides a long "dark period" storage availability ?

Do you mean physical size? Should fit without issues. What's the voltage rating?

Yes, the physical size , as the main issue is the voltage rating is too low, I have sourced some 3v items, in a range of capacitance,but I am keen to ensure they will fit.
