Widespread frost and ice again this morning ,

sun did come out for an hour but low cloud about now and mist returning

Changing every half an hour here.

Slightly higher overnight low of -2.7C at 07:00. Fog had finally appeared overnight.

This lifted to low cloud by 8:30. The sun then appeared with a clear blue sky for 1 hour before the mist has returned again.

The sun is now a pale yellow circle up in the sky. No sun spots visible to my ancient eyes!!

A slight breeze from the WSW is now apparent, and the mist is now getting thicker. Sun now disappeared and the temperature is steady at 1.0C with the frost starting to give way.   (11:15).

Looks like cloud for the next 2 days now...

Ah well, I enjoyed the clear blue sky  whilst it lasted.

MIA.

All depends on what you call “gotta”, for me its mild and wet is grotty especially in Winter....at least we have some thing that’s Wintry ( fog and a hoar frost ) I’ve just seen a lovely red sun set here

Now today is different, cold out but bright sun.  Helps me feel a bit more awake and motivated!

Not a bad day at all today

I’m more motivated when my slopes in my local park are covered in deep snow, and we are all having great times with the kids sledging

Whether that’ll happen this Winter is to be seen....I live in hope

I agree with you to a point, today as been milder of late,  that was in the forecast, but regarding the cold front moving south has made things milder...Emmm maybe not temps dropping here now it’s moved over my skies

The skies will clear and in doing so it’ll be frosty night tonight for most

-3•C here at first light. Ground like concrete, only the top centimetre’s thawing during the day ( still enough to get the dogs muddy tho’)

Whether we get any more severe weather is anyone’s guess.  Certainly the glass is climbing so I can’t see a return to mild anytime soon.

Think it’s been a bad winter for models, Covid or weather. If anything major happens it’ll be like 2009, deepening cold followed by a sudden dump.

Brass monkeys again out there tonight ,

feels a lot colder than last few nights

for all the lack of snow it’s been a reasonably cold winter to date barring a balmy 5 days around new year !

Yes much prefer a cold snowy spell .

but it is nice too see lots of frosts ,

the lack of any real Atlantic weather is very strange ,

No Atlantic dominance but still very little snow for most of UK, going to have to pay for this dry spell, no surprise to see rain records broken, could be in Feb, but more likely April/May

I agree nature will balance out ,

looks like a snowless winter in terms of big lowland events ,

end of November teased .

had one good snowy Sunday last January and a 5 day cold spell on feb with snow showers .

Well in my book ( humble opinion)

There is 6 weeks left , for a GOOD chance of snow hanging around for 3-5 days if we had a decent fall

and about 2 further weeks of a FAIR. Chance ..

after this we need a lot of parameters to fall right ..

but still a good 12 weeks to see falling snow and temporary coverings !!

❄️❄️❄️ keep wishing snow fans ??
