Thankfully for my dog’s sanity it’s quiet and rumble free here.  Today’s max temp according to my weather station was 29C at 13:50. Currently 20C at 22:25. Humidity 71% Wind from east at 0mph, with 2 minute average of…0.0 having again dropped from a decent breeze to zero in the space of a couple of minutes- pattern all week.  Pressure 1009.2hPa and steady

Hope those in the thundery areas further south manage to get a decent night’s sleep.

Two thunderstorms in the space of one eveninghere in the Hailsham/Eastbourne area, one with near continuous thunderbolts and lightning for nearly half an hour. That was fun!

The occluded front moved through the Region during yesterday evening and overnight, generally weakening and fragmenting as it moved north. Just enough rain to damp down the dust here, but a real soaking for some.

The TV forecasts I've been watching on a couple of breakfast news broadcasts this morning have suggested widespread heavy showers later today (they use ECM and Met Office models). A look at 3 different hi-res models suggest the east of the Region will miss them. Who will be more accurate?

Here's two models cumulative rainfall forecasts to midnight tonight:

No storms here, wasnt expecting anything, might have had a couple of drops of rain, but blimey it is humid this morning.

The driveway looked damp this morning, but not sure if that was just down to the dew or not! Certainly nothing in the rain gauge.

Wind SSW 5mph. Average over 2 minutes 5.7mph

Pressure 1007.9 hPa rising slowly

A quick recap of my post yesterday and the 1km hi-res radar rainfall calculation shows that Euro4 and Arome were pretty much spot-on with their forecasts that our Region would miss the heavy showers.

This morning the 2 models are suggesting a different picture for today, with both showing some heavy showers around the Region later. Here's the cumulative rainfall forecasts to midnight:
