A new thread to take us into Autumn 2021. After just 127.1 hours of sunshine in East Anglia during August, the dullest since 1968, September is set to get off to a very warm and sunny start Region wide.

Wednesday's temperature forecast from Arpege:

Please carry on in the usual friendly and respectful way we do in this thread.

The sun came out late yesterday in south Essex. Another murky start though this should clear more readily today.

Late afternoon yesterday stopped me in my tracks when the sun appeared. Brother and SIL (staying over for my dear Daddy’s 99th birthday celebrations at our house today) were most surprised to see us rush outside like excited children seeing the first winter snowfall.  They live on the Hampshire south coast and clearly haven’t been as sun deprived - is this a quaint village sun dance they asked…

Dreadful start today where i am- just a blanket of grey cloud as far as the eye can see. Really hoped we would be done with this rubbish for a while after seeing the promising forecasts but today looks a write off unfortunately.

Blue sky, sunshine and temps 18c by 10am, hopefully this makes peeps happier than theyve been these last few weeks, some late summer sunshine (well autumn sunshine I guess now) to top up the Vit D before the long (hopefully snowy and frosty) winter comes along.

Don't panic SS! Take a look at the satellite - it shows the cloud rapidly melting away. Hopefully the sun coming out soon.

Phew! I looked at this a few hours ago and there was a big lump of grey coming up from the south so i feared the worst. It is indeed brightening up a little bit now.

Yeah I'll hold my hands up. I moaned like a baby earlier but it's now turned out to be the clearest day since that spell in July! Amazing how you can go from a complete grey sheet to clear blue in the space of an hour! If only we had more of that changeover this year haha.

What a difference a slight change of wind direction does. Blue skies across most of the region and temperatures inland getting close to heights seen in August of 26c.
30c certainly possible on Tuesday in favoured spots.

This is as good a day as we've had all summer down here on the coast in St Leonards on Sea, and the best by far since the 3rd week of July.

Clear blue skies, a very slight breeze and 25.4c reported locally.

Well September has surpassed the high of August in this part of the world. It took just one day without that north easterly breeze…..

Cloudy start but it’s been a beautiful day and so nice to feel comfortably warm enough for shorts and T-shirt all day for the first time in weeks. Love a warm spell during autumn months, softer sunlight and hazy skies make them particularly pleasant and the longer the first autumn chill is held off the better in my view.

Beautiful day here, felt like summer! Sods in law the weather looks to pick up just as I leave for holiday!

The bees are out again in full force which is lovely to see!

Morning - the MO predicted 22c here yesterday and 23c today.

It hit 27c in the end so I wonder how we’ll do today!

Currently 16c and rising

A lot of high cloud this morning, not sure how much this will impact the temperatures. The sun is still out but rather weak.

Better late than never, summer has arrived in Autumn here on the South Coast. 3rd consecutive day of glorious sunshine and the temperature is heading towards 25c

The high cloud has properly thinned out to leave mostly clear skies. Up to 26c and a very light southerly breeze.

Corking day, came out of semi-hibernation, dug out the old gardening shorts and did loads (not that I haven't done anything during the clagfest but this was so much more enjoyable).

Exceeded the predicted maximum by some way! Ended up at 29.1c briefly - must have been a 30c somewhere?
