Wonder if she will give cat 5 a go.

I am starting to doubt whether she can make it to cat 4. I think category 3 is more likely given the fast movement and the modest strengthening so far.

I think cat 4/5, 24 hours to landfall, Michael went up faster with slightly less favourable conditions..

I'd say current landfall is going to be near Boloxi

Maybe a touch further West

Brings back memories of tracking and trying to plot the landfall of Katrina in 2005. What a year that was.

Not had a chance to look closely at charts and that but I think...

Grand Isle for landfall. Cat 3/4.

Am rusty at hurricane tracking so could be wrong lol

Any chance of Fujiwara Effect between Nora and Ida? I thought it looked a bit like outer clouds of Nora where starting to feed into Ida on latest satellite.

Its the storm surge that could be most damaging. Lots of Louisiana is low lying and has Levy's to offer some protection from flooding although in 2005, Katrina broke through and large parts were devastated.

HDOBs just extrapolated a surface pressure of 954mb.

13mb in 4 hours certainly seems like RI, We'll have to see what the vortec message says when we get one.

Edit: A sonde dropped in the center has found 955mb. Still no vortex message as yet.

Its officially now a category 4, new update issued given the rapid changes ongoing. Got to be good odds is going to be Category 5 at landfall.
