Big upgrade on recent WRF runs for my location tomorrow showing in excess of 1000 J CAPE..

Also sows modest instability in the early hours from whatever will be moving up across England tonight. Not sure whether to do an allnighter or get some sleep around midnight. I do like the anticipation, that’s part of the fun.

on another note, it was the first thunderless August around here since 2009. Hopefully September will make up for that.

Lots of Altocumlus flooding up from the south/south west over Ashford, and it's extremely muggy.. Hate it!

I still don't think there's anything worth getting excited about tonight. Everything is weakening as it trundles to our shores.

Tomorrow will hold more interest further inland.

A couple surprise of claps of thunder here, must have come from a developing storm now going north.. looked like nothing was on the radar at all lol

Sporadic thunder and lightning here.

Storm looks to be off to our north west heading towards Newbury.

Looks to me like almost anywhere could see a flash of elevated lightning tonight?

In my extremely limited knowledge, I agree with that.. nothing is going to plan compared to this mornings forecast. At least some storm activity is coming towards central southern England right now, and it’s moving NW - not east then north as predicted. And still some of the activity was not expected til later tonight, even in southern England. Radar watch time! I remember 3 years ago something came up from France that wasn’t expected earlier that day, and even in the stormless zone I live in I saw the best lightning show I’d seen since the 80’s. Hopecasting I am! Good luck for everyone else like me whose seen f all this year…

Non forecasted lightning shows tend to be the best. Can’t help but think there’s a chance of some fairly decent (but scattered) elevated stuff moving generally N across England tonight. Then again I’m no expert!

Looks like it's going to miss me any North-Easterly steering to help it hit me, looked like it was going to hit me earlier but now it looks like it's going to miss me.
