Hey guys. I've seen a really weird cloud formation and was wondering if it was anything interesting?image.thumb.png.8e1bf27fac2d592a13e81876813280d0.png The picture doesn't do it justice, but it looked like a crack in the sky.

Power cut?

Storms see to be south west and Ireland. No where near the original warning area. That happens though. The heavy rain has brought a total of 1mm.

22nd time in a row we have had a thunderstorm warning and we had one distant rumble the whole year. What is the point of them?

To pinpoint where a thunderstorm will happen is not fully possible but to forecast a larger area is more possible but not always correct.

Your best bet is to track storms via radar for up to date real time information. Even if you see a thunderstorm heading to your area it does not mean it will survive the journey. Thunderstorms can grow rapidly and die of in a very short distance.

The warnings are put out for when a Thunderstorm does hit within an area for the safety of the public ie drivers, sport events, music events etc etc.

WRF 12 Z still keen for a storm risk this evening for my location. Starting around now; peeking around 2300 with 600 J CAPE and lasting until around 03:00. Whether it is going to be anywhere near the mark remains to be seen.

The latest TAFs for Manchester and Liverpool airports are nothing to write to home about.
