Nice cluster of cells here after a torrential downpour that came across 30mins ago

May have been a rumble from this earlier, it did deposit some heavy rain.

Bulk of the convection is staying out towards the coast.

Nice clear skies now and pleasantly warm.

Currently at Silverdale, Lancashire, suns coming out now so wonder if that'll help spark something for tonight, though I imagine it'll end up being heavy showers

Into the 2nd day for NW England of warning for  thunderstorms and I don't think anyone has heard thunder yet. Maybe a few sferics up in the north of Cumbria yesterday.

Plenty of  heavy showers in the last few hours but still no lightning anywhere in the area. It seems it’s just not conducive yet again. Mind you a little more CAPE this evening than yesterday so let’s see what will happen.

Next shower about to arrive. Will it be a damp, or rather very wet squib?

Insane cell above Mablethorpe. Maybe convergence has a part to play.

Heard some distant deep rumbles earlier from that departing storm to my NE.

Hoping that next week, we see that low pressure in the atlantic set up in a place to draw up some of that serious heat building up over Iberia. I would love a repeat of that night time show that happened last year over the North Sea in the early hours of the 21 August, but 100 miles further west! I’ve never seen such rapid development and electrification of storms as that night. What made it even more beautiful, was that the ambient sky was so crystal clear. I’m sure there would have been sprites generated from that too.

To me instability looks even weaker tomorrow and flow is a straight westerly so not good for Merseyside usually. Monday was looking reasonable but latest WRF says no now.

I wasn't expecting much today with so much insulating cloud around since this morning, there was a brief 30 minutes this afternoon when the sun made an appearance (likely the trigger for that brief cell over Stoke) but it didn't amount to anything. A good day though if you like persistent overcast skies & drizzle.
