Some of the cells over N/E Kent are chucking out some biblical rainfall rates. The cell north of Dover is particularly potent and, as it approached the coastline, temporarily took on what appeared to be a hook on the southern flank (at least as far as you could discern from the NetW radar)...I saw two meaty looking funnels on the Kent coast during storms in the early noughties, but sadly too young to have had a phone with a camera on it.

No funnels were there when I was looking from my angle. I'll send a few videos in a minute but it absolutely threw it down.

Heard a few cracks around 1230 this afternoon. That’s been about it.

You should come here, we only get storms in the middle of the night IF they do occur. Haven't had a daytime storm in many years. It's a shame as I'm always asleep during them.

That's elevated for you ,coz most of action is in prime heating  usually mid / northern France ,they as a norm get pushed east over Netherlands,(not over keen of 16 c  water )even in hight of summer ,channel ain't no gulf ,so yea I agree with you so what ever develope s in north of France ,take a bit of this and that and add a few of this becomes elavated, night time ,the rest fizzle ,from heated ground @ 30c...to 16 c max game over ..

Took a timelapse but I don't see any rotation, angry looking clouds though.

What I really need to see is the whole storm.

This might be a spammy post full of things but rather do it like this then in separate chunks clogging this thread up.

First look in the distance as I walked it down to Hampton Pier to do my own mini 'storm chase':

Video and photo for when I walked it down a bit further past the play park looking towards Whitstable and Studd Hill:

I feel like this is the only photo I have that truly shows just how dark it was looking over towards Sheppey!

More video looking towards Sheppey as it drifted towards me accompanied by some structure in front of it and the shelter you can see that I hid in!

More video from when the storm began to hit:

Storm really then began to come in after a brief CG close off the shore with the wind picking up tremendously afterward so dashed it to the shelter:

Drowned out rumble of thunder can be heard from about 8 seconds in but wind really does kill the audio:

Storm begins to hit with a loud but again drowned out close rumble of thunder:

Rain begins to gradually pick up and can be seen getting heavier:

More of a show of the constant heavy rain:

Peak intensity of the rainfall, really was throwing it down with pictures accompanying:

Weird old looking sky after it finally calmed down, no rotation but certainly was very odd:

Some shots of the Canterbury cell and the cell that went over:

Then decided to leg it home and caught this brief shot of lightning whilst doing a good sprint home:

Brilliant mate ,top notch

Forgot that my webcam did timelapses to accompany it as well.

Looking W to N but predominantly NW.

No obvious rotation apart from a bit of scud but seems to gain a sort of tail around 4 seconds in but probably another thing teasing. I'd of got better shots of that if I wasn't cowering under a shelter!

2 small storms today accompanied by brief flooding plus a midweek storm, I'll take that. That's the 2021 quota filled now I'm sure!  Cant beat this weather imo.

Well so far it's produced heavy rain over me, but no electric action yet.

Just heard a rumble here just after a torrential downpour passed. None of the online detectors appear to have detected it although my own one did so it definitely was thunder.

More funnel clouds across the uk, wow. Will catch one one day.

will it thunder % has been sneaking up all day but trying not to get hopes up. Currently sat on the beach in a weird spot of rain, even though under a patch of blue sky and the sun is out. watching the sailing club getting ready to go out, the noise of the sails in the breeze is quite something.

Got clouds to the north of town, was electrified and was headed southeast but now taken a turn and heading more east. Taking a walk up the hill to see if we can see anything in the distance
