Watching the storm south of Newark and seen this circulation on the radar too. Absolutely loads of lightning but rain is blocking my view of that side of the storm.

What a storm that was. Back to blue skies now, a rainbow and very little wind. Bring on round two! 

Hopefully these will rumble on into the early night, giving rise to some night shows. 

What an absolute dream of a day for many. Just goes to show what good levels of shear can do. Utilises the CAPE and doesn’t flood it all out by separating the Downdrafts. All the ingredients have came together perfectly.

Just had a look at that, some nice rotation there.  I'm still kicking myself for not doing the hyperlapse in UHD, have fixed that now for the next time!

Right well it’s finally won. Two weeks of storms not electrifying, dying on approach, or developing on retreat. I’ve done the hard work. I’m done. No more chasing this year.

My video of one of today's thunderstorms that hit Northamptonshire, UK.⛈⛈⛈

The afternoon of 28 July 2021 saw a relatively small but intense thunderstorm develop just outside of Northampton and came straight through Wellingborough. The storm brought sudden torrential downpours which gave poor visibly and localised flooding. Loud rolling thunder was present throughout the entire storm although not much lightning was visible.

What a day, two storms while at work near Ashbourne, one as i finished over wirksworth and then I headed east and caught the line that exploded east of notts and followed it to Grantham! Got caught in a nice little hail downpour east of notts and then as others have mentioned frequent long IC/CC lightning in the line! Been great seeing everyone else's pics & reports too

welcome to my world mate, we had 19 storms within a 20 mile radius today and not one was close enough, heard 2  very distant rumbles and thats it for this year so far...but as you say beautiful cloudscapes.

Back edge of the decayed storm from Grantham

With the exception of the first storm just after midday over Belper I could sum today up as "behind the action". I did catch a beautiful CG as that storm approached though and there was plenty of lightning and thunder. After chasing the Belper storm to J33 of the M1 I stopped, had some lunch and then headed back south. I stopped briefly to film a storm that was rolling through to my north as I was near to Bolsover. However it was not coming my way so I left it to head south again and intercept a storm heading across from Stoke that had then hit Belper (my girlfriend tells me). Two storms in one day over Belper, that's a first! I met it near to Hucknall but it was moving very fast.

I drove through some torrential rain, small hail and flashes of lightning but by the time I stopped the main part was already to the east. I still saw some nice IC and CG lightning with thunder though as it moved away.

I then moved south towards J25 of the M1 and half hour later another storm hit Hucknall, but by now I was near Long Eaton. It was here that I noticed big storm clouds overhead and some big raindrops despite nothing on the radar, that told me it was a newly developing system. Ten minutes later and a line of storms is to my east (doh). So, I chased it east along the A52 through Nottingham and was catching it up as I headed towards Bingham. There were lots of flashes of lightning and some lovely IC's against a dark sky. But then (double doh) roadworks!! Spent 15 minutes stuck in traffic and by then the storm was gone. How I love England and its wonderful amount of roadworks!

So I finished up watching a rainbow near to Bottesford as the storm moved away, far enough now that I couldn't see the lightning anymore.

Now near Grantham and this is the scene to the east

Sadly I missed the thunder and lightning from the line that just went through London as I was in a gym class. I drove through it though on the way home and the sky was awesome! 
 

Was the fifth biblical downpour of the day and the roads are now covered by flash flooding/huge puddles!

Well we had an intense and rather scary storm directly over Hinckley about an hour ago. The following show how it formed before it unleashed lightning every 30 seconds or so directly overhead.

That’s the 4th today but definitely the most intense
