Bit of a letdown yesterday and I feel we are going to be too far west again for anything today.

The storm forecasts have a bit more of a wider moderate risk for thunderstorms compared to yesterday though so hopefully that may make a difference.

@East_England_Stormchaser91 I would be careful about going too far away from home today. I am no expert but PJB over on another site indicates an area around The Wash into Norfolk later, and he is quite a viable forecaster from my experience.

Thank you Supa. I’ll probably remain more local today now. Could actually be in the sweet spot!

yep - looks like it's going to be a wild day.
heavy shower just appeared out of nowhere here. bit early for any thunder / lightning, but probably a sign of things to come.

First Moderate shower passing over quickly. Still sunny. I love these types of days.

I'm looking forward to being too far south and east (as opposed to too far north and east)

Can't chase unfortunately as camping but can't wait for some thundery rain and a distant rumble in Norwich...

Starting to look and little more 'cauliflowery' out there now

We had a little one yesterday, but the bulk of the activity was just to the north.
Definitely feel short-changed this year, though. Finders crossed

A storm about to hit Crosby. Getting some huge raindrops and hail here now as something is developing over me.

Very fast moving stuff. Not seen anything like this in a while! Something big could happen today.

Chasing will be quite challenging I will iterate for anyone getting out there today, especially further South, with this fast paced activity. Best of luck to anyone out there today.

The speed of these cells is going to make it a tough chase day. Given we're in a reasonable spot here I'm likely just going to aim for a nice viewpoint and watch what comes over, rather than travel a lot.

Not necessarily interested in the lightning today, more the cell structure and the chance for the odd funnel cloud.

Sun is out strong here now. Can hear distant rumbles from St Helens direction.

What does AOB (AOB -20C at 500 hPa) in the storm forecast mean.

AOB refers to At or Below in METAR forecasts. -20°C at or below, around 5KM up.
