I think tonight's trough is in the SW now, wondering what that will do later as it comes across.

Just had the first overhead thunderstorm of the year so far. It was decent with a dozen visible flashes, a lot of thunder, torrential rain and bits of small hail. The petrichor after the hot and dry spell recently is lovely. The pic of it approaching, sorry its not that good.

15 days and counting now without any rain. Hopefully that will change tomorrow. A little concerned about the westerly element to the wind around here though, however this does seem to be mostlly below 850 mb.

It seems as though the MetOffice have joined forces with the BBC when it comes to thunderstorm icons on their app - showing stormageddon from midnight until lunchtime tomorrow.

I wonder why the south doesn't have a thunderstorm warning? Especially looking at the MetOffice run.

Hoping cloud cover doesn't restrict lift too much tomorrow, otherwise looking good for much of the Midlands Northwards!

I suspect it might have something to do with stronger winds across the South, blowing showers through quicker than across the North, and a lack of convergence zones?

Definitely looks better in the afternoon, especially across the E/NE.

Haven't really looked into the threat tomorrow much as I've been busy doing other things so I'm not really sure about any convergence zones etc, was just going solely off of the model haha

Might be worth a trip down to the Sea front, just in case this develops further

Metoffice do have my location down for a storm at around 1/2 am could this be the 3rd time in just a few days?

I've just noticed this too. Not a bad shout that I'm thinking the same! Southern end of that line has intensified a bit too over the last half hour.

The MetO predictive rainfall did have something more substantial around the Matlock area between 3am and 5am which seems to have gone now, but if the previous prediction is correct then it should still be dark enough at that time to see a few distant flickers to the SE from where I am.
