I've pretty much given up on plume events for East Anglia tbh. Everything heads straight into Benelux or becomes monstrously powerful in the North Sea.

Have you seen the increase in lighting actvity over Sussex heading our way?

I repeat I'm sure this is low based, loud thunder, and moving against the upper flow, I'm not sure this is it. We'll see later of course.

well for the people who've called it a bust or stopped bothering, at least u can go to sleep without worry whilst people in my location or near it will not know when to get to sleep in case they miss some amazing thunder and lightning

I'm heading home now - I was expecting nothing and I got nothing, so at least the disappointment is minimal.

Congrats to those who caught a corker!

I’m very envious, it’ll be our turn down in Exeter soon but we weren’t forecast anything in this plume, too far west, meanwhile everyone who’s getting some action enjoy and I look forward to some footage

Nothing much exciting from where I was. It died down as it usually does when it approaches Hastings but seems to have picked up again over the far Kent corner.

Very pink flashes, mostly IC, no forks or anything, very much sheet.

Perhaps something may pop up later.

The rain however, that was something at times.

Just to say, I don’t think it is a done deal that this clips Kent and is over. The system to the south looks to me more organised, and would take a path like this overnight, perhaps…

What is meant by 'more organised'? I see people mention it but I don't really understand it? (To be fair I understand relatively little about storms but am trying to learn!). Thanks.

I was getting very despondent but that lot moving up towards Brighton could come near my location…might not be a total write off for me but not confident it’ll come overhead

The way I look at things is that the time when I do actually get thunderstorms it will be extra special as I have been let down so many times.

Might graze coastal regions but I don't know any decent spots to drive to that far east, last time I tried I couldn't find anywhere to park up!

Tbh I'd rather be somewhere in the Loire Valley....

Glad I chose to stick around the beach as the lightening is more frequent now in the distance. Some nice CG (more-so Cloud to water lol) and a booming rumbles of thunder just as I type this.

It really isn't more organised though. The more detailed Netweather radar reveals it's just a mess of showers and drizzle unfortunately, and one that's showing signs of breaking up and weakening even more except for a few cells in its easternmost flank.

If you look at the precipitation to the NE of the ring I drew, it is all over the place. A mess. But the ring I drew has some shape.   Serious storms tend to organise themselves - sometimes you can see this in squall lines, the storm in front causes similar to follow on behind, as such storms become 1 dimensional, linear features and that is why they can be so hit and miss.  Frontal weather systems are 2 dimensional features and so much easier to forecast and so much more difficult to miss.  Hope this helps, I’m a bit outside of my comfort zone in this thread, so maybe others could chip in, please!
