I can hear thunder rumbling away to the north from the cell north of Matlock. Can't quite tell yet whether it'll be a direct hit here or pass just to the west.

I'm only a few miles from Bakewell, lots of thunder and lightning but very slow moving but heading directly for my location and also another storm moving South not far behind it.

I best get out and see this little beauty to my north. Looks like it'll come very close to here

Good job there's no plume then? lol

In what way is tomorrow night not a plume? I'm confused haha, since imo it's a variation of the typical Spanish Plume, typically known as a "Modified Spanish Plume"?

Looks like its maintaining a southerly direction...We should be able to see the structure from here if it makes it down to the Burton area

Looks like missing to our East, although it does seem to be recycling a little further West, but not enough.

Unfortunately not every Spanish Plume is a 'typical' Spanish Plume (like the one you have highlighted). The variation of the "Modified Spanish Plume" as I referred to before (with credits to Sue Gray & Lewis) looks a bit more like this:

    482484776_modifiedspanishplume.thumb.png.9d5ca6ac79d90baa30d10fcdf042cce9.pngsp.thumb.gif.5725b8453ee4baaad07580a6f6ffdf31.gif

As quoted by Suzanne Gray & Lewis "Unlike the classical Spanish plume the upper-level trough has stretched and thinned equator-ward and is forward (northwest–southeast) tilted. This can lead to a cut-off upper-level feature which is typically centred to the northwest of the Bay of Biscay." Taken from their paper (Categorisation of synoptic environments associated with mesoscale convective systems over the UK). However, we can agree to disagree of course, but yeah I do admit its not your classic spanish plume🙂

Is it worth keeping an eye on the cloud coming in from the Channel and South West for Southern areas later this evening? Quite a bit looking at the radar.

Building up very nicely now, I know what will most likely happen, it'll end up kicking off a few miles South due to the way it's developing on top of us, ideally needed to start precip a little more North
