not gone outside yet but will do close to 2pm, if I get yet again some nice convection I know something is coming that is going to make me go through dreadful weather at some point from all this amazing weather

The 00z Herstmonceux would suggest 29C, 00z Nottingham convects at 27C but has a warm nose at ~790mb that would realistically need surface temperatures closer to 30C to overcome (or if there was strong forcing from below). Lack of upper level support today (unlike yesterday) means convective cloud will probably struggle away from any marked convergence zone to provide the necessary 'kick' from below. Convergence at the moment seems most pronounced over W Kent into East Sussex, and perhaps between Southampton and Bournemouth. Hopefully the sea breeze can do its thing in S England this afternoon (smaller risk in East Anglia), but overall I have lower expectations today than on Monday

Nearly 29C here now, Cu bubbling away just to my north. 30C will be reached just inland and with a sea breeze just getting going the New Forest and east Dorset might be in a good place in a couple of hours.

You can see the Cu stalling out about 6000-7000ft currently, which I assume is at that 790mb level.

Currently on the car ferry back to the Island. Plenty of CU starting to build mainland side. Meanwhile there's one lonely CU over the island itself

Bubbling up again in Hinckley, pretty sure the build up I saw here yesterday is what ended up producing golf ball sized hail in Kibworth

Spot the difference again, 15 minutes apart.

I’m on holiday what happened yesterday? Was it just an SE event? Hopefully something interesting for me when I come back at end of week.

I’m at the same location as yesterday but the convection isn’t as impressive for now

Only if Worksop and Mansfield are in the SE

Here's the rain accumulations from yesterday, to give an idea on the coverage of showers/thunderstorms

Nice CZ setting up! 29/19C should be enough to make things pop really.

@Alderc

@staplehurst Any thoughts on how it compares to northern Ireland right now?

It's become very interesting over there:

Stuff trying to go up to the south of here but just collapses, think we're just too low on Temps to break through.

I’m probably not the best to comment but those cells look stationary, probably flash flooding directly under them. CZ clearly fired those off but more moisture and less capping must be available as surface temps and dps are several C lowers than over southern England currently.

Shower broke out over Bury St Edmunds according to the radar. The visible satellite also shows speckled clouds over East Anglia

Yeah, similar situation to southern England - sea breeze convergence and assuming dew points near 17C then an air temperature of around 27.5C or higher according to the 00z Castor Bay ascent. There's also a subtle shortwave trough aiding ascent a little more there too. The sounding gives over 1,200 J/kg CAPE, hence they appear to be quite electrically active, but very dry profiles keeping them spaced apart (for now, until potential daughter cells form etc)

Picked up an intense storm between Stamford and Corby early evening time. Lots of thunder, occasional visible lightning, the odd big CG with explosive thunder that nearly gave me heart attack and crazy rain, winds and hail. Not as big hail as the storms in Essex but still a good marble sized.

Impressive Pics there Bud

I'm not sure here if we can squeeze it ,North easterly is gorgeously appreciated, and humidity feels humid :-),but quite different from yesterday
